The raw data sheet gathered during the survey is given separately to you in Microsoft Excel format. (a) Draw the histograms of the observed speeds for TWO VEHICLE CATEGORIES assigned to you based on your registration number (see Table Q1) in the same graph. (20 marks) (b) Draw the cumulative frequency distribution diagrams of the observed speeds for the SAME two vehicle categories as of question (a) above in the same graph. (20 marks) (c) Determine the following speed parameters for the selected two vehicle categories separately. i. ii. iii. iv. v. vi. vii. Mean spot speed Modal class Mode or modal speed Standard deviation 85th percentile speed 15th percentile speed Median speed (05 marks) (05 marks) (05 marks) (20 marks) (05 marks) (05 marks) (05 marks) (d) Compare your two speed value parameters with the posted speed limits of the arterial road. (Posted speed limits for light vehicles and heavy vehicles are 70 kmph and 60 kmph respectively. However, for Three-Wheelers the posted speed limit is 40 kmph) (10 marks) Table Q1: Vehicle selection criterion based on the number assigned* to your registration number Value of ‘m’ 0 1 2 3 4 Vehicle Type MB 3W CVJ MB 3W Value of ‘n’ 0 1 2 3 4 Vehicle Type HGV BUS MGV BUS HGV 𝑁𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝐴𝑠𝑠𝑖𝑔𝑛𝑒𝑑 = 4𝑚 + 𝑛 ; Select values for ‘m’ and ‘n’ fulfilling the below two inequalities and pick the two vehicles assigned to you. 0 ≤ 𝑚 ≤ 4; and 0 ≤ 𝑛 ≤ 4 Note: * number assigned against your registration number has already been uploaded to the course web - End of the Question - 3
