Basic Research Article Review Instructions
Students will select a research article from the provided list to complete a basic article review. The
purpose of the review is to evaluate key components of the selected study based on the provided
criteria. Key components to be evaluated include the research problem statement, study purpose,
research design, study population, sample size, sampling technique, dependent variables, independent
variables, hypotheses, data analysis tools used, statistics (study results), identified weaknesses,
conclusion, and recommendations.
Students are expected to enter the appropriate supporting content from the research article into the
“Content” column in the Research Article Review Table & Rubric. Students should not submit their
findings in a formal paper format.
The final document with the completed table should be submitted as a Word Document via the
“Assignments” link by the deadline stated in the course schedule. Ten points per day will be deducted
if submitted late. The assignment will not be accepted if submitted more than three days late.
Academic Integrity Reminder: Academic integrity will be upheld in the Basic Research Article Review
assignment. Copied and pasted work in the assignment will not be accepted. Additionally, this is an
individual assignment, and working with peers is considered a violation of academic integrity and will
result in a zero on the assignment.
