The earliest primates were said to have appeared about 55 million years ago during the later parts of the Cretaceous period, transitioning to the Paleogene period under the Cenozoic era soon after. Marcaida WHAT’S NEW WEEK #12 2. List down all the geologic events that took place in Paleozoic era. The geological events that took place in the Paleozoic era were: The Cambrian explosion which led to the rise of the first fishes and chordates in the planet under the Cambrian period; The sudden diversification of metazoan families under the Ordovician period; The appearance of the first vascular land plants which occurred in the Silurian period; The appearance of the earliest-known amphibians and the rise of diversity in jawed fishes during the Devonian period; The appearance of the first reptiles, the earliest scale trees, and the appearance of seed ferns under the Carboniferous period which can be further subdivided into the Mississippian and Pennsylvanian periods respectively; and The Permian period in which occurred the Permian Extinction, commonly referred to as “The Great Dying” in which the entire planet faced a major extinction in both animal and plant species due to sudden and extreme changes in the climate, killing off 70% of terrestrial vertebrate species and 96% of marine species in that period and ushering forth a great depression in the biosphere. The reptile family, whose biology was adept at surviving the harsh environments of the Permian Extinction, began to dominate the biosphere soon after, leading to major reptile diversity and also led to the transition into the Triassic and Jurassic periods, better known as “The Age of the Dinosaurs.” 3. Can you tell the important events that took place in your life as you become a teen-ager? How important are these events in shaping your character as a learner? Limit your essay in 200 words. Essay: As a teenager, I have been through so much in my life. I have felt each and every facet in the endless spectrum of emotions and it is because of experiences that have shaped me to become the person that I am now. Frankly, I am more than happy to share the most significant moments in my life for they are truly events that I would never want to forget even for a single minute. One of the most important events that I can think of at the top of my head is transitioning from grade to 8th grade as our batch went through a “reshuffling process” in which we would be thoroughly divided in sections, leading to new classmates in turn. I found it to be extremely difficult to socialize with new peers, especially considering that most of my old classmates in my section were beginning to make new friends, feeding my insecurities even further. But, instead of depressing myself even further by doing nothing, I chose to seek friendships with others no matter how different I was to my classmates. In the end, I met people that I could consider as my dear friends. People who I share an affinity with. People I can smile at and cry to. This experience of mine led me to conclude that in order to achieve your goals, you cannot simply pray for them to happen. You have to actively find ways to make your dreams come to life. 7th As a learner, the experience that I shared was a significant turning point in my growth. I reflected the principle of actively achieving my goals instead of longing for them to come true into my studies. One would not simply hope that they achieve a very high grade which is exactly why I developed the drive and desire to achieve my goals and let their possibility become an absolute certainty through hard work and perseverance. Just like the Earth, I have faced many eras, periods, and the events that transpire with them, but it is all in part of the glory that is my birthright. And so, I shall bear the brunt of anguish and pain for the future of triumph and success will make it all the more worth it.
