ENDAYA, GENESIS JOSE T. BSAG 1201 (Animal Science) May 1, 2022 Score: Laboratory Exercise No. 2 RESPIRATORY SYSTEM: STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION INTRODUCTION Animals require a supply of energy to survive. This energy is needed to build large molecules like proteins and glycogen, make the structures in cells, move chemicals through membranes and around cells, contract muscles, transmit nerve impulses and keep the body warm. Animals get their energy from the large molecules that they eat as food. Glucose is often the energy source but it may also come from other carbohydrates, as well as fats and protein. The energy is made by the biochemical process known as cellular respiration that takes place in the mitochondria inside every living cell. OBJECTIVES 1. To acquaint and familiarize the students with the different parts of the respiratory systems 2. To learn the functions of the different parts of the respiratory system MATERIALS 1. Bond paper 2. Pencil 3. Reference books/online references showing the respiratory systems of any three (3) farm animals METHODS 1. Illustrate and draw the different parts of the respiratory system of any three (3) farm animals. 2. Discuss the function of the different parts of the respiratory system (GENERAL) . In the animal kingdom there are lots of different species that are living with each other. Every living organism that can be found in the earth’s ecosystem has its major purpose on why they are surviving even though there is evolution happening around the world. With these evolution happening around us many animals are having a hard time coping up with the changes. With these changes happening, breathing clean and fresh air is becoming a privilege to everyone. Animals are one of the living organisms that has the ability to survive even if there are lots of changes in the environment. The respiratory system of the said animals are responsible for the survival of the animals. Respiratory system includes all the organs and tissues associated with the exchange of gases between the animal and its environment, leading to the release of energy. The purpose of respiration is to supply oxygen to the cell which burns down food to release energy.
