LESSON PLAN Grade: 8th Subject: Physics Topic: Electricity - Atoms (Protons, Electrons, Neutrons). Date: May 12th, 2022. Miss Desaili Bonilla Lesson Emphasis: To explain and identify the main concepts regarding electricity and its relationship to the subatomic particles of an atom. To learn and differentiate between static and current electricity. Materials Needed: Google Slides Projector Google Classroom worksheet Learning Objectives: Ss will be able to label an atom and describe the characteristics of each subatomic particle. Ss will be able to identify the main characteristics of electricity. Ss will be able to recognize static and current electricity. Structure / Activity Icebreaker (5 min): Use a hangman activity to engage the Ss in order to discover the topic "Electricity". Introduction (5 min): Ask SS about the importance of electricity in their day to day life. Provide Ss with the definition, history, and importance of the term electricity. Development (25 min): Review with the Ss the structure of the atom, the electric charges of subatomic particles (electron, neutron, and proton), and the attraction between positive and negative charges. Present static electricity by asking Ss "Have you ever touched someone and they gave you a spark?". Discuss the way static electricity works and demonstrate with the use of a balloon. Present current electricity with an example. Discuss and demonstrate the terms circuit, voltage, current and amps. Practice (10 min): Option A: Ss answer worksheet. Option B: Ss answer a Kahoot. Round up (5 min): Elicit answers to random questions. Further Practice (in case Ss finish their assigned worksheet) Display the video: "Electricity" by Bill Nye. Ask Ss questions related to the video.
