Assessment Brief:
This second Portfolio of the module contributes 75% to the module grade and should be submitted
by completing the Google Site that has been provided to you. The assessment will be issued week
commencing 7th February 2022, then using information gathered in relation to your workshop
sessions and extra-curricular work/career experiences/volunteering this academic year, you are
asked to produce a six page analysis of your knowledge, skills and behaviours relevant for your
future career with supporting evidence/appendices.
This assessment requires the completion of an online portfolio, using Google Sites to store relevant
information and documents. Guidance on how to use Google sites is available here and in the
module’s taught sessions: https://sites.google.com/site/resourcecentereportfolio/how-to-usegoogle-sites
You will be provided with a Google Site template in a Google folder via email at the beginning of the
module – keep track of how to access this. You must use this google site and keep it in the folder, so
do not remove or copy the Google Site from this folder. The Google Folder must also be used to store
any files that you link to in the google site. Any document produced and stored outside of the Google
folder cannot be accessed and thus will not be marked.
The aim of the portfolio is to review your employability status at the beginning of the module and to
evaluate your work-based learning progress since then. Your google site should include a six page
reflection on your professional development along with supporting appendices to evidence this
development. This assignment is personal to you and should be written in the first person as a personal
analysis rather than in a third person commentary style. Ensure to read examples of autoethnographic
writing. The reflection introduction should introduce your academic and professional interests. The
M22575 MSc Professional Development
discussion should be a self-reflection/evaluation of your professional development, referencing
specific examples of the knowledge, skills and behaviours you aimed to develop and how these might
support your future career. Discuss any professional development that you experience from any
source, not solely experiences in the module. You must use models of reflective practice and
professional practice in objectively analysing yourself, your experiences and your development. In
critically analysing your development you are required evidence your development using appendices,
such as how you have updated your CV and covering letter after searching for a suitable job, discussing
your suitability for the role and areas where you specifically meet the job description. You should
summarise the account by concisely reviewing your discussion. Include relevant appendices to support
your analysis of yourself. Additional relevant appendices to support your experiences/achievements
should be included beyond those suggested.
You are advised to register for, and make use of, the additional courses, workshops and volunteering
opportunities that have been made available to you this year to help you to professionally develop
and to successfully complete this module.
