Goal: Synthesize the roles of mathematics in your field. You need to answer the question: What are roles of
Mathematics in your field? based on the gathered information from at least 5 journal articles or from the
interviews done to at least 10 professionals (already working) in your field. There will be two outputs to be
done: Summative Assessment 1 (SA1) which is a summary of journal articles or summary of interviews
depending on the choice for the method in gathering information, and Summative Assessment 2 (SA2) which is
the final output presented in a form of a video presentation, a PowerPoint presentation, or a creative work.
Mechanics

Option 1: Video Presentation
Create a 5-minute video presentation for the topic entitled ‘The Roles of Mathematics in <state
your field>’. You must use the content of the presentation from your summary of journal articles
(summary of interviews) in SA1 with the aim at drawing from this information your answer to the
question: What are the roles of Mathematics in your field? Prepare a script that will guide you in
the discussion and recording of the presentation. Last part of the video should be for the
references for the journal articles or profile of the interviewees for the interview. Reference also
the pictures/images used.
Option 2: PowerPoint Presentation
Create a 7-slide PowerPoint presentation for the topic entitled ‘The Roles of Mathematics in
<state your field>’. You must use the content of the presentation from the summary of journal
articles (summary of interviews) in SA1 with the aim at drawing from this information your
answer to the question: What are the roles of Mathematics in your field? Prepare a script that
will guide you in the discussion and recording of the presentation. The first slide is for the title and
the last slide should be for the references for the journal articles or profile of the interviewees for
the interview. Reference also the pictures/images used.
Option 3: Creative work
For creative work, you can choose from an artwork (i.e., painting, drawing, sculpture, collage) or
creative writing (i.e., poem, rap, song, comic strips,) that illustrates the roles of mathematics in
your field drawn from the content of the summary of journal articles (summary of interviews) in
SA1. The title is ‘The Role of Mathematics in <state your field>’. On separate section write at least
10 sentences explaining the connection of the creative work to the roles of mathematics in your
field.
Note: Filename format should be Filename format: <first name initial followed by
surname>GED0103<section>SA2. (i.e., JPILIPINASGED01031SA2). File extension
should be based on the output format selected and also in pdf.
