How can we make ICT efficient in teaching and learning?
ICT affects almost all aspects of our lives, including education, according to Williams
and Sawyer (2015, pg4). Millennials, kids today, use technology like their lives depend
on it. For these reasons, teachers need to acknowledge and embrace ICT in their
classrooms. ICT can be incorporated in various ways in classrooms for effective
teaching and learning. Such scenarios are shared by Williams and Sawyer (2015, pg5),
where a teacher uses big screen instead of a traditional blackboard to upload quiz for
learners to interactively participate. Another teacher sends class notes to learners via an
online platform for learners to read before class. As we learn for these scenarios, we
see that ICT helps improve time for teachers to explain important concepts to learners
other than marking scripts or writing notes on the blackboard. In conclusion, a teacher
must try to feature ICT in his/her classroom using available resources.
