Ssgt Leo Gonzalez – 0-5 Write Up Leg 1 – KSUU – RJTY (05 September 2018) Cargo Compartment – 7 RSS/8 Singles/0 Pax Ssgt Gonzalez arrived at the squadron early to ensure all predeparture duties were accomplished. He completed his monthly testing, signed off all applicable FCIF’s, and ensured all the required paperwork necessary for the mission was accounted for. We arrived at the jet where the cargo consisting of (7) HMMWV’s and 8 single pallets had already been APEX’d. After arming up, Ssgt Gonzalez satisfactorily completed a full-preflight of the cargo compartment while answering questions about various aircraft support/emergency equipment and procedures. After completing the cargo preflight Sgst Gonzalez and I did a thorough inspection of the cargo, discussing restraint criteria for both vehicles and pallets alike, verifying the load package documents, measuring restraint, and identifying hazardous materials. Prior to flight Ssgt Gonzalez completed the after loading, before starting engines, before taxi, and before takeoff checklists with no issue. In flight we discussed several topics in the training folder to include: currency and publications, predeparture duties, aircrew inspections, fleet service, departure documents, checklist procedures, and load monitoring. Strengths – Overall comfortability on the jet due to prior experience as a loadmaster on different airframes, as well as operational knowledge of aircraft equipment and systems Weaknesses – General knowledge regarding subjects such as O2 regulators and ThruFlight requirements Leg 2 – RJTY – RKSO (07 September 2018) Aft Flight Deck – 0 RSS/1 T-5,1 1 T-4/2 Pax We arrived at the jet where Ssgt Gonzalez completed a thru-flight inspection of the aft flight deck with no complications as well as a manual form f prior to takeoff. In flight we discussed more topics in the training folder such as: food preparation, passenger comfort/control, border clearance, aircraft security, and danger areas. We arrived into Osan AB where Ssgt Gonzalez ran his after landing and before loading checklists. He performed right scanner duties for a level kneel. Upon briefing the load team, he oversaw the download of (7) vehicles as well as (8) pallets, marshalling the both the K-Loader as well as the vehicle drivers. Due to complications with the aft doors we downloaded everything through the front of the aircraft. We also accomplished deploying and stowing the ramp extension support jacks on several occasions. Strengths – Ability to command/control scenarios in the cargo compartment with regards to proper safety and procedures of uploading/downloading cargo both rolling stock and palletized cargo alike. Weaknesses – General knowledge during Q&A sessions regarding Bravo/Charlie alert statuses and during the preflight the slide adjacent to the No. 5 service door was inspected using the girt bar instead of the side handles. Leg 3 – RKSO – RODN – RGUA (12 September 2018) Aft Flight Deck – 2 RSS/6 Singles/1 T-3/13 Pax We arrived at the jet and completed a full preflight of the aft flight deck with minimal problems as well as a manual form f prior to takeoff. After a short flight to Kadena AB, we accomplished right scanner duties for level kneel as well as deploy/stow the support jacks for a (7) pallet download of all single pallets. After downloading the through cargo, Ssgt Gonzalez led an upload of (6) singles/(1) T-3/(2) vehicles accomplishing load planning changes with the ATOC representatives to help achieve a better CG as well as for ease of on/off loading. After completing the upload, he accomplished another form f, made all the applicable radio calls, and we discussed restraint criteria for chain gates. Upon landing at Andersen AB, he operated the forward visor/doors for truck bed configuration as well as marshall the k-loader driver for the download of prior load of pallets/rolling stock received from Kadena. Strengths – Checklist discipline in knowing the proper checklists to run as well as applicable steps to get prepared for loading/unloading quickly with quick turn operations and multiple uploads and downloads. Weaknesses – There was slight confusion regarding the No. 5 door/No. 2 hatch and whether or not to open them during the preflight as we had well exceeded the requirements necessary for accomplishing thru-flight operations. Discrepancy with the form f in the extra equipment block, as the winch was already accounted for in the chart c. Leg 4 – RGUA – PHIK – KSUU (13 September 2018) Troop Compartment – 3 RSS/6 Singles/21 Pax After arriving at the jet, Ssgt Gonzalez accomplished a thru-flight inspection of both the cargo compartment as well as the troop compartment with no errors. When ATOC arrived to the jet we received our cargo upload in the form of 6 single pallets and 3 engines mounted on dolly’s. We verified applicable 9-2 procedures for the engines and loaded the rolling stock/pallets through the aft end of the aircraft with Ssgt Gonzalez operating the aft doors and marshalling the k-loader. We uploaded a through load of 6 pax for the flight to Hickam. Pax were uploaded through the aft ramp via low stairs. He operated the aft doors as well as opened/closed the doors in truck bed configuration. He accomplished the passenger on/offloading checklists as well as briefed the inbound pax. Upon reaching Hickam we performed a quick turn operation giving him an opportunity to download pax via the high-stairs, operate aft doors to trucked bed for an upload of (1) T-2 and a baggage pallet, and coordinate with fleet and passenger services for our flight into Travis. We uploaded an additional 15 pax for a total of 21, Ssgt Gonzalez demonstrated the proper techniques for demonstrating emergency equipment for passengers, in-flight monitoring responsibilities, and proper procedure for passing out meals. Upon reaching Travis the aircraft was configured and the cargo was offloaded via APEX. Strengths – Good familiarity with passengers, demonstrating good pax relations as inflight it was determined that we were not provided with the necessary amount of meals, while only signing for 7 there were 9 passengers with meals ordered. He correctly identified this error and annotated the discrepancy on the boarding passes while offering additional snacks to those without meals. Weaknesses – General Knowledge/Nomenclature, overall it was a successful mission with numerous training opportunities and ample scenarios to demonstrate loading/unloading of cargo. However, in some instances, mistakes were made regarding equipment limitations/ranges that needed to be re-visited on a couple of occasions and nomenclature on certain topics was a little weak.
