Tony Jackson Los Angeles, CA tony.dn.jackson@gmail.com +1 (415) 910 - 0749 Su Casa - Ending Domestic Violence Jennifer Herrera Long Beach, CA Can you please address why you choose to submit your resume to Su Casa, a non-profit agency? In my pursuit of growing as an HR professional and giving back to the community, I specifically chose to apply to Su Casa because of the mission and values Su Casa embodies. When reading the “About” portion on your organization's website, I was enamored with the words “diversity” and “empowerment”. Diversity is important to me because it allows for more creative processes to transpire and gives an innovative approach to solving problems. The empowerment piece plays a huge role because we are able to empathize with individuals and learn ways specific to help them. Being a part of the larger picture is a passion of mine because the work that I will engage in with your organization can transform lives. You majored in Business and transitioned to various Human Resource positions, can you please share that journey with us? As a recent graduate from Western Governors University, where I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Business Management, I hone the required knowledge and skills to be successful in business production and workflow. Coupled with my Human Resources experience, I have the adaptive skills essential to be successful in the HR Coordinator position. Stepping into my first role in the HR world at Lionsgate as Talent Acquisitions Coordinator, I was able to gain full-cycle recruitment strategies, developed my ATS and CRM technology skills, and developed a tailored approach to maximize efficiency and reduce time spent on repetitive tasks. One example I attribute to my success in the role is having created a system specifically for the internship program where interns could self-record videos responding to prompts which gave hiring managers a better sense of the candidate in conjunction with their cover letter and resume. I then transitioned into my next role with WSS/ Eurostar as HR Coordinator, where I was brought on in an interim role, I assisted in the development of a tracking and compliance system for associates. The role consisted of outreach to associates, store management, district management, and coordination with the payroll team. In this role, I gained skills such as management of leave of absence, issuance of emergency pay, offboarding associates, and staying in compliance with local and federal laws. As mentioned in the job description, we are a smaller agency. We noticed you worked for large companies; can you please describe how you believe that experience will make you a stronger candidate for this position? As an individual who has experience working with larger companies, I immediately became invested in working with a smaller agency because of the strong impact I know my work can have. I know that my experience with both Lionsgate and WSS makes me a great contender for the role because I have the skills necessary to adapt to varying workloads. The transition from larger companies to a smaller agency will be seamless as I am able to take effective strategies and systems that I have seen work at a larger scale and tailor it to fit the needs of Su Casa.
