Class of 2022 is special as we experienced all three teaching systems due to the impact of COVID-19 Pandemic. In 2020 we are forced to go to lockdown. In 2021 it is the first time ever we had a quarter system. In 2022 we went back to a regular schedule but instead we only have four classes per day right now. Class of 2022 is special as we won lots of championships throughout the city, province even nation. In Grade 10, our Women Soccer Team became the championship of Fraser Valley District. In Grade 11, our Hypatia Math Contest Team Score ranked 1st in Canada. In Grade 12, our UBC Physics Olympics Team won first place among 50 schools all over BC. Class of 2022 is already stronger as individuals, therefore stronger as a team. Class of 2022 is special as we changed our icon from Totems to Thunderbirds. This marks the start of a new chapter in the history of Semiahmoo. As an individual, I experienced a lot during this unforgettable five years. In 2017, it is my first time stepping into a foreign country. I am very excited to start my journey in Canada. When I was in China, I know that my English is excellent. But at my first day in Semiahmoo, I realized even though I can read, I can write well but can’t communicate with my peers fluently. I learned that English is not only a language just on paper but is more importantly as an oral skill as well. At this year, I met one of the most important people in my life, Mr. Aujla. He accepts my request to become the assistant coach of the school’s soccer team and always makes himself available to chat with me. My oral skill has developed significantly and has the chance to feel how my favorite sport is played in Canada. In 2018, I start to develop well-roundly. I won several awards in Mathematics and received the Award of Excellence of Math 9. More than that, I learned my third language, Spanish and had a well start learning it. I met several friends and joined several clubs. I also made a wooden car on my own in Technology Exploration class. In 2019, things starts to get more interesting. I had a chance to coach my U9 soccer team and experience what is like to be a coach. I step on the journey to UK as I believe my future will be here.
