Methods the college should use to help students find suitable accommodation Benjamin Benčić Recently many students have found it increasingly difficult to find suitable accommodation that meets their needs. In order to solve this issue, a workshop was held on what methods our college could use to help us, the students, to find acceptable accommodation. One method the college should consider using is lowering the dorm rent. Rarely do students have a stable job that pays enough to pay rent. Perhaps the college could do them a favor and lower the rent to a level acceptable to the students. Furthermore, many students have complained about the rent being too high, stating that: „Staying in college halls of residence should be cheaper.“. Another method, which I find to be more beneficial, could be assisting students in finding their accommodation. More often than not, students who choose not to live on school grounds have difficulty finding a suitable residence in the vicinity of their college. A way to solve this is to open a help desk, tasked with helping students find a suitable accommodation near their educational institution. The workshop has obviously proven to have been fruitful. I have identified several solutions I deemed to be most benefitial and profitable. One solution is lowering the rent for staying in the college halls of residence, whilst another is creating a service that will help students find suitable accommodations.
