BRIEF HISTORY OF THE COMPANY
The company is located at km 38, Abeokuta
express way, sango-otta, Ogun state. It was founded
on the 8th of December, 1963 under the name
‘Hoeshest Products Nigeria Limited’. In 1995, at the
annual general meeting held, the shareholder
approved the change of the company’s name to
NIGERIAN-GERMAN CHEMICALS PLC.
NGC has over 45 years pedigree in the manufacture
of quality product and stand out as Nigeria foremost
indigenous enterprise in the pharmaceutical,
beverages and chemical fields, providing world class
companies with a vehicle to promote their products.

STORAGE: Cool dry place
STORAGE CONDITION: Air tight container protected from light.
USAGE: Used as active ingredient; Analgesic
APPEARANCE: White crystalline powder
SOLUBILITY: Sparingly soluble in water, freely soluble in alcohol, very slightly soluble in
methylene chloride.
MELTING POINT: It melts between 168oC – 172oC
LOSS ON DRYING: 0.5% maximum

4-AMINOPHENOL TEST
1. Weigh 0.5g of the sample to be examined
2. Weigh 0.5g of acetaminophen standard
3. Weigh 0.1g of NaCO3
4. Weigh 0.1g of sodium Nitropruside
5. Weigh 0.0013g of 4-aminophenol
PROCEDURE: Dissolve 0.5g of the sample to be examined and that of the standard
with 10ml of equal volume of Methanol: Water. Add 3 and 4 above, then dilute with
10ml of distilled water, pipette 0.2ml of this solution and add it to the sample and that
of the ref. standard solution recently prepared above. Dissolve 0.0013g 0f 4-
aminophenol weighed into 25ml volumetric flask with equal volume of methanol:
water. shake vigorously, then make it up with the same solvent, add 0.5ml of this
solution to standard alone.
Keep away from light ray for 30minutes, any blue colour in test solution is not more
intense than that in the standard and then take the absorbance of prepared sample
and ref. standard solution @ 710nm using equal volume of methanol: water solution
as blank. The absorbance of the test solution does not exceed that of the standard
solution, corresponding to not more than0.005% of 4-aminophenol.
4-aminophenol content: sample absorbance × weight of 4-aminophenol × 0.5

CONCLUSION
The industrial training program was very challenging, a real practical
exposure on most of the theoretical knowledge acquired in my courses,
hereby bridging my theoretical and my practical knowledge.
I had the opportunity to learn various chemical processes and work
with sophisticated, expensive and modern equipment. My involvement
in most of these processes and equipment usage has greatly enhanced
my technological skills and has increased my understanding of the
laboratory and manufacturing processes.
RECOMMENDATION
I will like to recommend Nigerian-German Chemical
Plc (NGC) to the upcoming IT student, because NGC
is a place to acquire skills and experience even
beyond their field of learning (CHEMISTRY) because
of the company’s high quality standards and
accuracy when it comes to Drug and Beverage
production, engineering and technology.
