What I Need to Know
This module was designed and written with you in mind. It is here to help
you master the nature of Housekeeping. The scope of this module permits it to be
used in many different learning situations. The language used recognizes the
diverse vocabulary level of students. The lessons are arranged to follow the
standard sequence of the course. But the order in which you read them can be
changed to correspond with the textbook you are now using.

HOUSEKEEPING
Today,cleaning is a very serious concern to have a well conducive
environment for a living. Our home, our working place or in our whole environment
requires proper cleaning in order to give us a clean atmosphere where we can live
safely.

Broom is a cleaning implement for sweeping
made of bundle of straw or twigs attach to a
long handle
Dust Pan is a cleaning tool commonly used
to scoop the dirt and waste on the floor.
Water hoses are hollow tubes designed to
carry fluids from one location to another.
Bucket is a watertight,vertical cylinder or
truncated cone, with an open top and flat
bottom,usually attached to a semi-circular
carrying handle that is used to hold water or
any liquid solution used in cleaning.

Cobwebber is used for reaching
sweeping of floor without a stool.

Sponge is characterized by readily absorbing

SAFETY MEASURE IN DOING HOUSEHOLD TASK
Housekeeping is not just cleanliness. It includes keeping work areas neat
and orderly, maintaining halls and floors free of slip and trip hazards.
Safe Use
Risk can vary greatly. What important is, whoever has to use any tool or
piece of equipment as part of their job does so with care. To ensure safe use,
employers must orient workers and provide suitable information. They must also
check that workers have the appropriate qualifications to use intricate tools and
equipment.
Material handling safety
Handing material is a daily function in the workplace. All too often it is a task
taken for granted, with little knowledge of or attention to the consequences if done
incorrectly.

Protect Yourself
 Use the correct hand protection; wear gloves to prevent cuts.

Wear safety shoes to prevent injury to your feet from a dropped item.
Size up the load
A. Determine if you can carry a load comfortably.
B. Get help if the load is too big or bulky for one person.
C. Check for nails, splinters, rough strapping, and rough edges.
