Content: 1. Pair work (starting with what is known): Turn to your neighbour. You are school friends who have met up at the mall. Strike up a conversation. E.g. Sihle: Hello Nomsa. You look nice. Nomsa: Hello Sihle. Thank you. I just had my hair done. Sihle: Would you like to have a milkshake with me? Nomsa: That would be lovely. Only if you are paying though. (laughs) 2. Class Discussion: What is a dialogue? A dialogue is a spoken or written conversation between 2 people. 3. Worksheet: (Refer to handout) Skills: Listening, speaking, reading, writing Expected Outcome: 1. Students learn the purpose, function and format of a dialogue. Formal assessment: 1. Students produce a written dialogue based on a theme.
