MARIE CURIE DONE BY : BETSY GEORGE Maria salomena Skiodowska Curie was a Polish and naturalized French physicist and chemist who conducted pioneering research on radioactivity. She discovered Radium and Polonium. She was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, the first person and the only woman to win the Nobel Prize twice, and the only person to win the Nobel Prize in two scientific fields I decided to select her because she is inspiring and has helped many people. Marie Sklodowska Curie was born in Warsaw, Poland, on November 7, 1867, Marie was the youngest of five children. Both her parents, Władysław and Bronisława (née Boguska) Skłodowski, were prominent teachers in their local area. Her father taught physics and mathematics .1895 she married the French physicist Pierre Curie, and has two children Irene and Eve She studied at Warsaw's clandestine Flying University and began her practical scientific training in Warsaw. In 1891, aged 24, she followed her elder sister Bronisława to study in Paris,1891, she went to Paris to continue her studies at the Sorbonne where she obtained Licenciateships in Physics and the Mathematical Sciences. Working with her husband, Pierre Curie, Marie Curie discovered polonium and radium in 1898. In 1903 they won the Nobel Prize for Physics for discovering radioactivity. In 1911 she won the Nobel Prize for Chemistry for isolating pure radium. Following the outbreak of the First World War in 1914, Marie developed a mobile x-ray unit that could be transported near to the frontline and allow her to analyse soldiers’ injuries. in 1919 published her personal account of the war in her book Radiology in War. We see this sort of behavior in every successful person I've met. Life is not easy, but successful people possess, find, or create an unwavering belief that they are gifted and meant for something. The three things that this quote by Marie Curie to me are simply this: • Believe you are gifted for something. And do so today. Right now. • Find out what it is. As soon as you possibly can. Life is short. • Commit to it. Every day
