What is the usage of is?

Is is use when you are going to talk about a single person or one
person.

EXAMPLE:

She is beautiful.

Ana is making a poem.

Juan is cooking fried chicken.

What is the usage of are?

Are is use when you are going to talk about teo or more person
in a sentence.

EXAMPLE:

Brenda and Balmond are playing in the playground.

Isko and Leni are fighting because of the cake.

Sarah and Telma are cousins.

a connection in our discussion

What is subject?
 SUBJECT is the person in the sentence that
is doing the action.
 Example:
 Berto likes ice cream.
 Therefore, Berto in the sentence is the
subject. For he is the one who is doing the
action.

What is predicate?
 When we say predicate this is the
action that the subject is doing.

EXAMPLE:

I hate chocolate.

Therefore, hate is the predicate. Since, it is the action that I do.
