REQUIREMENTS TO BECOME A FORENSIC PSYCHOLOGIST
To become a forensic psychologist, he/she should obtain a degree which is BACHELOR OF
ARTS IN PSYCHOLOGY WITH FORENSIC PSYCHOLOGY EMPHASIS which takes about
four years to complete. Second, he/she can obtain a master’s degree in forensic psychology if
necessary, to boost their specialized knowledge. If a forensic psychologist wants to evaluate
individuals on behalf of the court or serve as an expert witness regarding competency, a state
license will probably be needed. Each state oversees its own licensing requirements, but most
states will require a doctorate degree, passing the Examination for Professional Practice of
Psychology and having a certain amount of relevant experience. This is because a forensic
psychologist helps to facilitate the legal process by providing psychology expertise to various
individuals in the legal system. Their understanding and explanation of certain aspects of
psychology health can help move along court cases, inform juries, determine the reasons behind
crimes being committed, otherwise play an integral role in system.
