Electromagnetism Electromagnetism is one of the four fundementals of nature. It holds the world together by occuring between electrical charged particles. THE PROPERTIES Propgated by oscillating waves electric and magnetic waves oscillating at right angles to each other They exhibit properties of interference and diffraction Travel at a speed of 3 × 108 m/s in a vacuum They are transverse waves The relationship between wavelength and frequency of eletromagnestic wave is : c = v λ HOW TO MAKE We can make an electromagnet by placing a soft iron between some coiled wire and paring the coiled wire in two ends of a battery. When the current passes through coil, the iron will be magnetised. Hence a electromagnet is made THE FUNCTION Electromagnetic forces are responsible for the chemical bonds between atoms which produce molecules, and intermolecular forces. The electromagnetic force governs all chemical processes, which arise from relations between the electrons of adjoining atoms.
