Closed die or Impression die forging: In this type the work piece is compressed between two die halves which carry the impressions of the desired final shape that is imparted to workpart. Metal flow is constrained so that flash is created . Flash is that portion of excess metal which is adjoining the forging at the parting line. That portion is removed by trimming to get the product.
