When I was in high school, (a period of our lives where we are
very young, but already exposed to the harsh realities of life) I had
difficulty imagining where will I be after I graduate college.
Sadly, I was quite sure, that I will not amount to something, and
that I will be happy as long as I have enough money to buy food
every day.
The sadder thing still, is just when I thought this kind of thinking
was unique to me, most of my friends at the time thought the
same!
I found out over the years, that this kind of thinking was reinforced
by me and the people around me. It was normal to not try
something new, it was normal to play it safe, and it was normal to
stick by the rules and the norms!
We were never ready to grow, we never wanted invest on our
skills more because it was uncomfortable and growing meant
more responsibilities.
At school, when you perform and constantly grow? Most will make
you an outcast and others will unknowingly stay from you
because you are not “fun”
At work, when you perform your best
