What is age related hearing loss? Do you know how your ears work? Or Why elder people are hard of hearing ? I went on the world wide web in order to answer these questions. There are too many results include of blogs, pictures, videos.I visited one of the most famous blog about ears. Its named Hearingloss blog. The reason why this blog is so famous is writer Dr.Eric.Mckeeper. Who is well-known audiologist. After I read all articles I knew about what is hearing loss and how our ears work how can we prevent of hearing loss? and what is earing aid? Your ears are very complex organs, and they have to work hard in many ways so that you can hear the world around you.Your ears split into three sections.Hearing loss is defined as three types. One of them is related to aging ear.In the end I answered all my questions and learn about How to choose best hearing aid between a lot of species. First of all your ears consists of three major areas(Picture 1.1): 1. Outer ear( Pinna) 2. Middle ear Picture 1.1 Structure of ear 3. Inner ear Your outer ear collects the sound around you and funnels them into your ear canal which causes your ear drum(tympanic membrane) to vibrate. This vibration shakes the ossicles in yor middle ear, which helps move the sounds into the cochlea in your inner ear.Your cochlea processes these sounds and sends them up the auditiory nerve to your brain, where you interpret what you hearing.Picture 1.2 Second:Hearing loss is defined as 3 types(Picture 2.1) 1. Conductive (involves outer or middle ear) 2. Sensorineural (involves inner ear) 3. Mixed (combination of the two) As you can see drug side effects and noise damages are sensorineural type of hearing loss.Anotherhand allergies and impacted earwax are conductive type of hearing loss.Genetic disorders and impections are example of mixed type of hearing loss. The loss of hearing due to aging is classified as a kind of sensorineural hearing loss that can’t be reversed and can even lead to deafness and distress.According to the survey in Mongolia has two hundred thousands of people who is deaf and hard of hearing.47 percent of them is naturally deaf,21 % is age related hearing loss(presbycusis) another ones are because of drug side effects and noise damage etc(Otgontungalag 2017) Dr.Eric.Mckeeper said that “Aging ear is originated from external ear larger, ear canal narrows,Eardrum shrinks and ossicles do not move as freely’“One in three people in the United states between the ages of 65 and 74 have hearing loss”( Mayoclinic.org,2017) According the survey of World Health and Nutrition examination 2011-2012 people of age 60-69 years are more susceptible than others. Protect your ears. Limiting the duration and intensity of your exposure to noise is the best protection. In the crowded place, plastic earplugs or glycerin-filled earmuffs can help protect your ears from damaging noise. Avoiding noisy environments and repetitive exposures to loud sounds,Controlling your blood sugar if you have diabetes, and getting your hearing tested regularly. Third: What is hearing aid? All hearing aids use the same basic parts to carry sounds from the environment into your ear and make them louder. Most hearing aids are digital, and all are powered with a traditional hearing aid battery or a rechargeable battery.Small microphones collect sounds from the environment. A computer chip with an amplifier converts the incoming sound into digital code. It analyzes and adjusts the sound based on your hearing loss, listening needs and the level of the sounds around you. The amplified signals are then converted back into sound waves and delivered to your ears through speakers, sometimes called receivers.(Picture 4.1) If you have sensorineural type of hearing loss you should choose the ITE(in-the-ear) hearing aids. Because of the size of the aid, they may fit a more severe loss.If you have mixed type of hearing loss CIC or Completely-in-Canal hearing aid is better for you because that one is Small and very discreet; which makes them perfect for anyone that doesn’t want others to know you are using a hearing device. At last If you have conductive type of hearing loss RIC(receiver-in-canal) is more suitable to you. There are less feedback problems with this style because there is far greater seperation between the microphones and receivers. In conclusion our ear consist of three major areas.(Outer ear, middle ear, inner ear)and hearing loss problems are defined as 3 types (Sensorineural,Conductive,Mixed) Age related hearing loss is kind of sensorineural type that can’t be reversed and that can lead to deafness and distress.Age of 45-69 years people should pay more attention their hearing and getting your hearing tested regularly.Hearing aids won’t return your hearing to normal they can improve your hearing by amplifying soft sounds.People have to choose carefully what hearing aid is suitable for their situation.
