ORGANISATIONAL Task 1: Organizational structure In the Level 0 we have the 2 owner who are working as Management team and are in charge of the company. There is one person who is responsible for Economy and is working as a stuff function. In the level 1 we have 5 departments, 4 of them (Outdoor, Golf, Winter Sports, Service) are grouped by object principle and 1 (Marketing) is grouped by functional principle. The employees are specialized by they’re interest, meaning that they only give advices to customers regarding to the sport they know more about. If a customer comes to one employee and ask about one sport that he don’t know, he will guide him to the employee who know better in order to give the best experience. Beside the main interest, all employee knows about the winter sports because this department, in the winter season, sells the most products and they have to be prepared to support all the customers. Company use combination of Top-Down and Bottom-Up Management principle, meaning that goals and tasks are informed largely by employee feedback (Bottom-up), but we can also see centralization because authority is made by the management team(Top-Down). • According to which principle is the responsibility distributed vertically? Responsibility is distributed vertically by line-staff principle because The Fun Sport is using supportive stuff function represented by 1 employee who do the economy of the company, and the other departments have only one superior: the management team. • Which of Mintzberg's five organizational forms characterizes Funsport? In Mintzberg’s five organizational forms – Fun Sport fit in to the simple structure form because is a small business with only a few employees (8), is a dynamic business, flexible and easily adaptable. Task 2: Organizational culture Cultural analysis based on Edgar Schein’s cultural model - counts 35% of the organization assignment Edgar Schein’s cultural model Artifacts: OBJECTS: - Logo - Dress code: sports clothes, sometimes sponsored VERBAL EXPRESSION - Name (Funsport), initial letters of logo (fs – f like fun, s like sport) -The story of foundation: Everything started with windsurfing in 1979 when 3 friends with the same passion wanted to start business. After 2 years they open their first shop. 1989 they moved to Vejle, open shop there and moved to winter sports and golf. Although nowadays they are not selling windsurfing equipment the shop in Vejle is South Jutsland’s largest specialist shop and few customers still remember them as windsurfing shop. ACTIVITIES -Skiing workshop - company parties - company holidays (skiing, golf, outdoor) -PLAYING SPORTS TOGHETHER/ SHARE SIMILAR INTEREST Values: STRATEGY – really focused on clients and relations Goals – the best customer services, be number 1 as a specialist store in winter sports, outdoor and golf, to increase their summer revenue – passioned about their work, they are still coming with new brands and products to attract the potential customers Routines -Party -Outdoor activities -Vacations together Basic assumption: We spend time together in our free time as well.
