Are you vaccinated against HPV? ○ ASK IF THEY UNDER THE AGE OF 27 Sex is assigned @ conception by chromosome information @5 weeks the tissue that becomes ovaries & testes have formed @7-8 weeks early gonadal tissue forms testosterone UTERINE DEVIATIONS ● As the uterus formes it is seperated down the middle, as the fetus matures it goes away ● Bicornuate Uterus- “Odd-shaped” horns at junction of the fallopian tubes ○ This can decrease the ability to conceive or carry a pregnancy. Uterus Positions ● Anteversion-Uterus tips forward. Retroversion-Tops far back. ● Anteflexion-Body of uterus is bent forward @cervix junction ● Retroflexion-Body of the uterus is bent back @cervix junction. Birth control NATURAL ● Periodic abstinence- Refraining from sex during conception period. ● Natural fmily planning-No sex during fetile period. Role of hormones in BC Estrogen-Suppresses follicle stimulating hormone and suppresses ovulation Progesterone-Decreases cervical mucus permeability. Interferes with tubal transport. ESTROGEN PUTS YOU AT RISK FOR AN EMBOLISM Types of oral contraceptives ● Monophasic-Fixed doses of estrogen & progesterone through a 21 day cycle. ● Biphasic-Constant estrogen varying progesterone. ● Triphasic-Varying in estrogen & progestin.
