Answers to the Assignment Questions
Q1.
Upon leaving his previous job at Gant Computers as an Assistant Programmer to
KAAF Software Solutions as a Senior Programmer, he had great expectations in terms of
motivation from the team leader. At Gant Abdulrahman, as the team leader was more
encouraging but the work was not fulfilling to Salim in terms of career growth, earnings and
exposure. In reference to Maslow’s Hierarchy of motivation, Salim only lacked selfactualization at Gant. He expected to achieve his full potential at KAAF that happens to be an
international organization. When he realizes that Mrs. Zeenat has no time for employee
connection, recognition and all sorts of motivation he becomes disappointed. According to
his fellow employees at KAAF, he may not be able to be recognized or his opinions heard as
since Mrs. Zeenat considers her solutions as final without having to critique her team’s
opinions.
In his new workplace, Salim will only enjoy physiological needs and safety needs that
consist of employment and the other basic needs. He lacks a sense of belonging in the
organization, self-esteem and self-actualization needs. His growth will therefore be
negatively impacted while working under Mrs. Zeenat. All the Maslow’s needs for employee
motivation should be met as they determine employee satisfaction hence personal
development, job morale and high performance (Binti Mohd Amin et al., 2021)
.
Q2.
The working conditions at KAAF seem unbearable for Salim. Looking at the salary
at his salary as a senior programmer, he may be satisfied but financially but fail to achieve

career growth. Since Mrs. Zeenat has proven unable to change her behavior, it may be
advisable for Salim to work for a while as he searches for another fulfilling workplace.
Q3.
Employees always require motivation in workplace to achieve their full potential. A
team leader should constantly keep a close connection with his/her team, review their
performance and correct them where they make mistakes. Remuneration should not be the
only motivating factor but recognition, freedom at workplace and respecting of each
employee’s point of view when it comes to problem solving.
