Rocket League Items Guide - Decals, Wheels, Toppers & More
Now that the most important (but also the most boring) decision has been made, we can
move on to the more exciting aspects of your car's design. Choosing your wheels, hats, and
paint jobs, on the other hand, will have no effect on the performance of your car.
Wheels, toppers, paint jobs, and other cosmetics for Rocket League automobiles
Wheels are those four round things that help you move around the field or court
Despite the fact that we promised we'd stop using the h-word, these do have a small effect
on your car's hitbox at the point where they intersect with the body. While there is a lot of
debate about the effects of different wheels on different chassis, the truth is that the effects
are minimal, so just go with a set of wheels that you think looks slick.
All Rocket League cosmetic items, like the bodies, are available in a variety of rarities, albeit
with some minor differences: Common, Premium, Limited, Rare, Very Rare, Import, and Exotic.
The rarities are as follows: Common, Premium, Limited, Rare, Very Rare, Import, and Exotic. If
you don't have any Blueprints yet, the two quickest ways to get your hands on the wheels you
want are to unlock them through playing games and leveling up, or by buying Rocket League
items in the in-game item shop. However, because there are thousands of items available, it
may take some time before you find what you're looking for.
The next-best option is to Trade-In your items, which is explained in greater detail in the Body
section, and your final option for getting some new tires is to trade with other players. Inquire
with your friends or send a message to someone you played against to see if they are
interested in exchanging games. Within a short period of time, you'll be feeling like Bobby
Firmino, who wakes up on Christmas morning to find a brand new pair of boots under the
Christmas tree.
Car Toppers are cosmetic items that can be used to make your car look as cool – or as
ridiculous – as possible
The Brunnhilde Viking horns and the Rick n Morty Cromulon are two of the most popular
options. The good news is that these items have no effect on your hitbox – otherwise, you'd
just go for the biggest one to gain an advantage over your opponents.
They are available in seven different rarities, just like all other cosmetics, and can be
purchased in the Item Shop, traded in, discovered in Blueprints, or traded with other players.
Trails are a great place to start
Trails may appear to make you go faster, but they have no effect on your car other than to
make it look more appealing to drivers. It's the same process as with Toppers when it comes
to gaining access to these RL items for free.
Paints are a type of art
Colors, Decals, and Finish are some of the options available to you that will have an impact on
your car's paint job. While the Colors do not require unlocking, as you are given a free choice
from the start, the Decals and Finishes do require unlocking in the usual ways.
Decals are designs, such as hot rod flames or racing stripes, that are applied to a vehicle.
Additionally, by adding these to your car, you will have the option of painting the body a
secondary color to make it stand out even more. Although the Finish may not be noticeable at
lower graphics settings, it can make your car appear old and corroded, or new and
pearlescent, depending on your preference.
It's worth noting that iconic vehicles such as the Batmobile and Delorean are unable to be
customized due to licensing restrictions.
Tournaments are a new feature introduced with the free-to-play version of the game
To earn rewards such as trails, wheels, and decals, you can take part in automated
competitions that take place at specific times of the day. Because of your placement and the
difficulty of the tournament, the rarity of your rewards will vary depending on how difficult the
tournament is – but don't worry, you should be competing against players with a similar skill
level as yourself.
Upon completion of the tournament, you will receive Tournament Credits, which can be
redeemed for Cups in the future. The greater the number of Tournament Credits required to
purchase a Cup, the rarer the customization item you will receive. While tournaments will be
implemented gradually at first, the number of tournaments should increase dramatically as
Psyonix implements the free-to-play system.
