Energy Audit & Feasibility Study COMPANY PROFILE Energy Management Plan System Design & Commercial Proposal Installation & Servicing 6 1. GRID-TIED SYSTEMS Also commonly known as grid-connect solar, grid-esolar or grid-feed solar system. This solar power system is connected to the grid and has no batteries connected to it. The solar panels generate direct-current (DC) electricity when light hits them, then converted into alternating current (AC). 2. OFF GRID SYSTEMS An off-grid solar power system is similar to an on-grid system, except that you need to add a battery inverter and a battery bank. Below are few reasons one may opt to go off-grid: •There is literally no electricity grid where you live. •There are areas in rural Africa and informal settlements that have no access to electricity. •There is a grid, but the nearest connection point is a long way from your home or commercial property. •More importantly, it is cheaper to go off-grid. 3. HYBRID SYSTEMS Hybrid solar power systems are the best of both worlds: you are guaranteed (well, 99.9% of the me) electricity supply off the grid, with the ability to store your excess solar energy for use when the sun isn’t shining. This typically reduces your dependence on grid imports by over 80%. A hybrid system is generally configured to charge the batteries with excess solar energy – as this is the cheapest form of energy you can get. Once the batteries are fully charged, the excess solar can be sold back to the grid- (Once Kenyan legislation and other African countries; allows users to do so). In the event of insufficient solar energy to power your home or commercial property, due to natural factors like a cloudy sky for long hours of the day, the battery inverter will provide power from the reserve storage (batteries). If it can’t provide enough power because it is running flat, then the grid will provide the short fall. OUR PROCESS STEP 1: CONSULTATION Our Specialists will either prepare a desktop consultation process or visit the site to assess the energy/power needs. This process is generally a back and forth discussion with the client on the energy needs and available solutions. STEP 2: PROPOSAL Once the needs have been identified and a site feasibility undertaken, a proposal would be shared with the client based on the suitable/best energy and power solutions. STEP 3: DELIVERY AND INSTALLATION On acceptance of the proposal by the client as well as the cost structure (Quote and BOQ), The project would then be implemented and rolled out. STAGE 4: COMPLETION Once the project is completed, it is handed over to the client with a maintenance plan or without depending on the project structure. At this stage, the client would then aces the full benefits of COMPANY PROFILE solar energy. 7 Diodetech Project Highlights PROJECT TITLE World Bank Lighting Africa Policy Support DIA / DfID Technical Assistance to Develop the Energy Africa Compact Ariya Capital Powering Agriculture with Renewable Energy Adam Smith International l (ASI) Accelerating Renewable Energy Investments in Sierra Leone Through a Sub-Regional Appoach PROJECT DESCRIPTION A study that provided baseline information on the policy and regulatory environment for off-grid lighting and solar products in 8 countries: Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, DRC, Senegal, Cameroon and Ghana. The study served as a cornerstone of the Lighting Africa policy initiatives which aim to facilitate commercial development of the pico-solar products market. Development of Energy Africa Compact for Kenya, Ethiopia and Somalia. These Energy Compacts were developed between DfID (UK) and the Governments of Kenya, Ethiopia and Somalia respectively. A project under the Powering Agriculture; An Energy Grand Challenge for Development (PAEGC). This project focuses on supporting new and sustainable approaches to accelerate the development and deployment of clean energy solutions for increasing agriculture productivity. The project provides and endto-end cost-effective, low risk renewable energy generation and energy efficiency services to flower and horticultural farms in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. Develop and launch a sub-regional investment roadmap that will support the acceleration of renewable energy policy reform, encourage cross-boarder trade and attract investment of international suppliers and investors in the MRU region (Sierra Leone, Guinea, Liberia and Ivory Coast) GIZ Analysis of Rooftop Solar PV Potential for Captive Use and Embedded Generation in the Commercial and Industrial Sector in Kenya Analysis, identification and deduction of commercial and industrial sectors that have the greatest potential for implementing rooftop or building integrated solar PV installations. Our engineering team conducted research on the status qu of PV development in the following main subsectors: manufacturing industry, building sector, hotel & tourism sector and the food and beverage industry. SOS Children’s Village 60kWp Grid Connect PV System in SOS Children’s Village Mombasa Design and deliver Kenya’s first commercial net-metered solar PV system. The 60kWp SMA grid-connected solar PV system was designed to offset the client’s electricity expenditures by generating a surplus of power during the day and feeding it into the Kenya national grid.
