Switch Challenge L:O – To investigate switches in an electric circuit and to make a simple switch COPY THIS INTO YOUR SCIENCE BOOOKS Electrical products work by using circuits and switches. Circuits allow electricity to flow through - and so power - bulbs, motors and buzzers. Switches are used to control circuits. They can break a circuit and so switch bulbs, motors and buzzers off - or complete a circuit - and so switch them on again. __________________________________________________________________________________________ Your challenge is to make a switch that you can use in a simple circuit to turn a bulb on and off. You can use card, foil, BluTack, paper clips, tape, split pins, but you don’t have to use everything on the list. (If you think of another material you could use, ask your teacher first.) Draw and label the switch you have made: Draw and label the switch you have made in your science books Test your switch Did it work? Explain why, as scientifically as you can! Look at the circuit diagram below. Draw it in your books. Is the switch on or off? Will the light bulb be on or off? How do you know? Explain
