Control Measures
(Safe Work Procedure)
A pre-start inspection must be done on all
electric drills and all electric drills must be kept
on a register. The user will do the inspection
daily before use. Any discrepancies found must
be noted and explained on the checklis. The
discrepancies must be brought to the attention
of our Depot Manager, David Nqamisa, who
signs off all our checklists and carries the
authority and responsibility to rectify the
discrepancies found. He will take action
immediately and will make sure that
discrepancies are indeed actioned.
Nadia will make sure that all workers are
supplied with PPE according to the specific jobs
they are performing. Our PPE Hazard
Assessment is an analyses and assessment of
what PPE to procure. Nadia will make sure that
the Safety Representative ensure that all
workers wear and use the Personal Protective
Equipment given to them in the correct
manner. Workers must work together with the
Safety Representative in nurturing a culture of
wearing PPE correctly.
The Operator must be aware of what he is
doing. Spot checks must be done to regularly
check if the operator is doing his job corectly
and in a safe manner. Vices must be supplied by
the company to ensure that the employees
have the right tools to do the job safely.
It’s sometimes proving difficult to clamp the
workpiece as it’s very thin or has an odd shape
and this can make it difficult controlling the
drill.
