A. Read the passage below and answer the questions:
Always Tell the Truth
Jamie was appreciated by his parents and teachers for always telling the truth.
One boy in Jamie’s class, who was called Harry, was very mischievous. He
wanted to put Jamie in trouble. He was jealous of Jamie because he always
got a good name from the teachers. Even the Principal would tell everyone to
be like Jamie.
One afternoon, when the whole class was having lunch in the cafeteria, Harry
went to the classroom and wrote “This class is boring” on the blackboard.
Under the message, he signed Jamie’s name. When the students returned after
lunch, they were shocked to see the message on the board. Jamie was confused
and did not know who wrote the message. Their English teacher, Mr. Jones
was called to inspect the writing. Harry smiled with satisfaction when Jamie
was being questioned by the teacher. Jamie told Mr. Jones that he was having
lunch in the cafeteria and was not in the classroom. It was not even his
handwriting. Mr. Jones believed Jamie, but he wanted to be sure. He had an
idea.
Mr. Jones told all the students to show him the palms of their hands. All of
the students’ hands were clean, except for Harry’s. His hands had chalk
powder all over them. He had forgotten to wash his hands after writing the
message. Harry was sent to the principal’s office and his parents were called.
Jamie was once again praised by his teachers and classmates for telling the
truth.
