INTRODUCTION
Nature and Background of the Study
Chili pepper (Capsicumannum) belongs to Solonaceae or
nightshade family and are both used as vegetable and as
spice. It is the most cultivated vegetable/spice in the
Philippines

Definition of Terms
To facilitate and ensure comprehension, the following
terms that will be used in this study
are conceptually
defined:
Sow- to plant seed in an area of ground
Transplant- to remove from the ground or from a pot and
move it to another place
Plowing- to dig into or break up (dirt, soil, land, et c.)
with a plow
Harrow- to cultivate with the a harrow
Wilt- a disorder (as a fungus disease) of plants marked by
loss of turgidity in soft tissues with subsequent drooping
and often shriveling—called also wilt disease.
Nursery- an area where plants are grown for transplanting.
Seedbed- an area prepared for planting seeds
Controlling-is

The proponents made a good business strategy that will
help them to accomplish the goals.
Qualityis sometimes defined as meeting the requirements of

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
Brief History of SilingPanigang
Silingmahaba is usually a bright green but gets redder
with age.
Despite its name, it grows to be only about a
finger long although it is longer than the other commonly
found hot chili pepper in the Philippines, silinglabuyo.

Capsicum annuum L. is a domesticated species of the
plant genus Capsicum in the family Solanaceaewith numerous
varieties. The plant is native to the southern part of

the world by European traders, primarily the Spanish and

Quality
Quality according to the late American Management guru
Peter Drucker said that quality in product or service is
not what the supplier puts in. It is what the customer gets
out
and
is
willing
to
pay
for.Likewise,
Bussels
(2012)
stated that quality is fulfilling the customer’s purpose in
a way that matters to them. Without that purpose having
been artificially created through an elaborate marketing
campaign by delivering a product and or service that is
worthy of human beings.
Additionally Reuben (2012)

able to look at yourself in the mirror with satisfaction
and pride knowing that your stamp is symbolically there for
everyone to see that you have done your very best because
that is who you are as individual, as a project team in an
organization.
Quantity
Quantityaccording to J. McHugh (2008) cited production
as the creation of goods and services using factors of
production;
land,
labor,
capital,
entrepreneurship
and
knowledge.Likewise, Klein (2008), cited that the quantity
is the volume of product produced in every production.
Sales
Salesaccording to Kotler (2015) sales as the process
of persuading customer to purchase the companys product or
service.Likewise,
Longneckret.
al.,
(2006)
formally
defined, a sales forecast estimate how much of a product or
service can be sold within a given market in a defined time
period.
Because
sales
revolve
around
a

market, the market should be defined as possible.
Customer Satisfaction

comfort,
Vavra(2002)
points out that customer satisfaction may be of a product,
decision, process delivery terms, the use of experience a
store or a company, organization prior to the purchase of
available expertise.
Furhermore as Hill et al (2007) cited in their book
that the best denetion was told by Kotler that if the
service meets the expectation of customer is satisfied and,
if

Marketing
Kotler and Armstrong (2010), stated that marketing is

CIM (2012), stressed out that marketing is the management
process
for
identifying,
anticipating
and
satisfying
customer requirements profitably.
Marketing Strategy
Aaker
(2013),
cited
that
marketing
strategy
is
a
process that can allow an organization to concentrate its
resources on the optimal opportunities with the goals of
increasing sales and achieving a sustainable competitive
advantage.Likewise,

Additionally,
Baker
(2008),
cited

relative to competitors and contains a definition of market
needs,
the

the

desired result.
Return on Investment
According
to
Factiva
(2010),
Return
on
Investment
(ROI) within the context of marketing, practitioners might
calculate Return on Investment (ROI) by simply comparing
revenue
gains
against
marketing
dollars
spent.Likewise,
according to Cradduck (2017), it is through a good Return
of Investment (ROI) that proponents claimed they have been
successful.
This
allowed
the
proponents
to
determine
whether advertising or marketing campaigns are booming. The
whole idea behind this is to get the higher return than
what you have invested, if a person does not employ an ROI
tracking system; chances are that they might not get the
profit.
Payback Period
Gutt (2017), defined Payback Period (PP) refers to the
period of time required to recoup the funds expended in an
investment, or to reach break-even point. (PP) is usually
expressed in years.Furthermore, Knight (2009) stated that
the
shorter
the
payback
period,
the
better.
And
it
“obviously has to be shorter than the life of the project —
otherwise there’s no reason to make the investment.” If
there’s a long payback period, you’re probably not looking
at a worthwhile investment.

Weeding Management
Weeds are unwanted plants that invade the crops and
where the competition in nutrients between plants and weeds
takes placed.
Removing weeds are necessary for easy grow
of the crops and for the convenience of the farmer in every
harvesting time. There are two ways to eliminate the weeds,
through manual pulling or through spraying weedicide.
The
farmers or the entrepreneur’s chose to hire a 5 weedier
every other month to remove the weeds.
Harvesting and Marketing
45 days after transplanting, the crops started to bare
fruits and it was matured after a week. The entrepreneur’s
first harvested was 10 kilos and when the weeks passed by
from 10 kilos it become 50 kilos a week. The harvested
fruits were delivered in Alcate, to Mrs. Marit. The first
harvest price was 80 pesos per kilo and goes up to 80 pesos
per kilo.

respectively. Results can be attributed to the fact that
silingpanigang which is considered as high value crop is
indeed
highly
vulnerable
to
different
factors
in
crop
production enterprise like fluctuating prices, season of
production, demand and supply, as well as the preferences
of the consuming public.
In addition, differences in the incurred monthly sales
can be associated to the number of kilogram produced and
the
corresponding
price
(i.e.
either
peak
season
and/or
lean season) per month. Based on the actual farm production
and management, silingpaniganghave very seasonal value in

1.2 Customer Satisfaction
Customer satisfaction implies the degree of benefit
the products or services occurred to the customers after

customer

media, consumers of the silingpanigang were obtained from
individual buyers (per kilogram basis) to bulk buyers (per

2. Production Operational Performance
2.1 Quantity
The quantity refers to the number of products produced
during the entire operation. A total of 283 kilograms were
harvested within 5months production period out of the 3000
planted silingpanigangand was presented in Figure 2.

the business project. In computing the total net income,
the formula shown below was used.

4.4 Return on Investment
Return on investment (ROI) is a measure of managerial
effectiveness and efficiently and was computed as the ratio
of total net income to the total expenditures and serves as
tool to demonstrate the percentage recovery of the capital
investment.
ROI =

value of net income of (Php 458.00) and can be due to

computed
payback period is within 10 months. Hence, this negative

the operation.
3. Based on the actual operation and computed payback
period, 5 months production of silingpanigang is not
enough to obtained positive net income and return on
investment.
Recommendation
Based on the study conducted the proponents recommend
the following:
1. The

2. Based on the actual operation (i.e. production to

enterprise
could be productive and profitable if the production
period is longer.
