According to Ganeshan and Harrison, a supply chain is a network of facilities and distribution options that perform the function of procurement of material transformation of these materials into intermediate and finished products, and the distribution of these finished products to customers. Furthermore supply chain is also a network between a company and its suppliers to produce and distribute a specific product to the final buyer. It represents the steps it takes to get the product or service from its original state to the customer. Identify similarities and differences between production and service operations.
