Performance Task 1 Teenage Dating It is easy to characterize teenage love as 'puppy love,' rather than the so-called genuine deal since a body and mind that is still developing and maturing is unprepared to absorb the complexities and depths of such a grown and difficult emotion. Love's power is limitless. It has the power to make things possible, but it takes time, passion, and determined effort to make it work. Young people who are still figuring out how their mind, body, and hormones are changing need time to figure out what love is, and any haste could lead to several heartbreak, anxiety-related disorders, a drop in academic performance, and, in the worst-case scenario, lifelong scars. With the advent of the internet, young people are exposed to love, sex, and passion before they are even educated about it. Getting into and out of relationships has turned into a competition among peers rather than a natural process of falling in love. Where being single attracts criticism, shame, and even mockery. It's not unusual to find young people nowadays that are eager to get on the dating bandwagon merely to keep up with their peers, disregarding all common decency and caution. Their minds, which have yet to comprehend the depth of this feeling, are unable to distinguish love. Some may be traumatized as a result of too many heartbreaks and separations. Their minds, which are still developing, are not able to produce logical and rational answers to rising emotions such as anger and depression, which may lead to violent outbursts, and even suicidal thoughts. Because of their emotional incompetence, they are oblivious of the heart's resiliency. Dating at such a young age is bound to have significant consequences if unguided and unsupported, where every suffering seems to be an assault on their identity, where every break-up may seem catastrophic, where every new attraction may seem the love of one's life. A young person whose body is still developing is generally unaware of the safe methods of precaution to be observed in order to have a healthy relationship, and a small margin of error in such circumstances can result in irreversible financial, physical, mental, and emotional consequences that are far beyond their capabilities. When the only emotion that makes the world go round is only loved for the other sex, a significant portion of the growing-up period is impaired. Friendships, connecting with parents, and relations with siblings, are forgotten, leaving some of life's most precious moments unformed and unfulfilled. Isn't it preferable to engage in a wide range of free interactive activities with members of the opposite sex without the discomfort and pressure of dating? Getting to know the opposite sex, becoming friends with them, hanging out with them, and then, as time passes and adulthood sets in, you will gradually realize what you really want in a partner and how much commitment and responsible you can be. In the end, taking this next logical step forward through dating will be with hopes of meeting one's soulmate.
