Course Description: In this course we will study descriptive statistics, probability and probability distributions, and
topics from inferential statistics, including interval estimates and hypothesis testing.
Homework: Students are strongly encouraged to work on the assigned exercises (see reverse side). Working in
groups is also encouraged. Homework will not be collected. However, most students will find that they need to
work a majority of the assigned exercises to be successful.
Attendance: In order to receive maximum benefit from this course, it is necessary that you attend all class meetings

SOUTHEAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE
LINCOLN CAMPUS
Course Format: Every TH, we will have a 10-15 minute at the beginning of the class. Each quiz will be worth 10
points. All quiz exercises will be similar to the homework exercises assigned in the syllabus. Students will not be
allowed to make up missed quizzes. The lowest 2 quiz scores will be dropped for each student.
Work must be shown on quizzes and exams to earn full credit unless otherwise indicated! In most cases, you will be
allowed to use a calculator and the formula sheet on quizzes and exams, but no notes or textbook. Aside from
occasional bonus questions on quizzes/exams, extra credit will NOT be available. If assignments are turned in
late, the first day is 20%, 50% and 0% maximum credit earned..
Below is an approximate schedule. The instructor may vary the pacing, content, and exam schedule. If you must
miss a class, please make arrangements to get important class announcements. You should read the lecture material
before class, and do the indicated homework after the lecture on the material.
SCC Policies:
Last Date for Student Initiated Drop: The last date a student may withdraw from the course without the
permission of the instructor and the dean is__________. After that date, permission will be granted only in
extenuating circumstances! It is recommended that students receiving financial aid should contact the financial aid
office prior to withdrawing from a course to determine how their aid may be affected.
Grades of Incomplete: A grade of “I” for a course is reserved for individuals that have completed 75% or more of
the coursework with a grade of “C” or better, but due to situations beyond their control cannot complete the last few
assignments for the course. In these situations, the individual enters into a contract with the course instructor to
complete the remaining course assignments within a month after the end of the quarter.
Academic Integrity: Academic integrity is one of the basic principles of a community college. SCC encourages
and expects the highest standard of academic honesty from all students. Please note that cheating, plagiarism, or
other forms of academic dishonesty are monitored and subject to disciplinary action. Any plagiarism or cheating will
be reported to the division dean. The first incident of cheating or plagiarism by a student will result in a grade of 0
for the assignment. A second incident of cheating or plagiarism by a student will result in a failing grade for the
course, and may lead to further disciplinary actions.
Electronic Devices: See MHS student handbook
