Overview
The course starts by placing the professional investment management role within
the broader financial services industry. Key clients are discussed and the services
they require from investment management firms are isolated. The process of
investment management is studied using a case study before the course turns to
the asset classes and instrument that are used to construct investment portfolios.
Risk and return, along with common industry measures of each, are the final
technical topic of the day. During the final session, participants experience the
role of the investment management professional during a simulation, where they
invest client money against a backdrop of a changing macroeconomic climate.

Investment Management Fundamentals
Investment Simulation
In this section the role played by investment managers
within the financial markets is covered. The spotlight on
clients and their needs allows participants to place the
markets in context.
• What are the financial markets and why do they exist?
• The major players and the role of the investment banks:
Investors & borrowers
• Key investor clients within financial markets
• Institutional investors
• Pension Funds
• Insurance Companies
• Sovereign Wealth Funds
Participants experience the role of active fund manager.
Participants are split in groups and have 100m of client
money to invest over three periods. They are given
macroeconomic and market information and asked to
invest using a small number of equity and bond securities.
Performance of each group is assessed after each period.
Bespoke Investment Management Process
Solutions offered to key clients and the style of asset
management are discussed.

Terms and Conditions Summary
Cancellations and transfers can be made free of charge with 30+ days written notice. Notification must be made in writing and receipt must
be acknowledged by Fitch Learning. Participants who do not attend or give less than 30 days’ notice of cancellation are liable for the full
course fee and no refunds can be given. A substitute can be sent at no additional charge but we will require notice 2 working days before
the course. Should a participant wish to attend the next course date, providing the course fee has been paid in full, we will only invoice for
25% of that course fee. Only one transfer can be made in respect of any booking.
Invoice and Payment:
Invoice will be sent, via email, to the billing contact within 3 working days of receiving the completed registration form. We require payment
