Project 01- Branding Objective The objective of this project is for you to work within the con nements of a real world project where you’ll have to research, design and implement a project while working with a client (your teacher). This project will, ultimately, be a cross-subject project for Digital Illustration & Imaging 1 and Web Design I. Task You are designing for “Port Hope & District Agricultural Society Fair”. This service exists and is in need of a new/ updated brand (look). You will start by researching the service. Their actual web address is “https:// www.porthopefair.com". Learn about the society, fair events, and people that related to the service. Use your ndings to create an inspired / informed logo that includes an icon (graphic) and word-mark (company name). Accompanying your logo design, you will create a Branding Book describing uses of the logo, typography, colour and layout control for additional promotional material (i.e. website, posters, etc). Criteria 1. Create a Logo for Port Hope & District Agricultural Society Fair. Keep in mind the logo will be used for the new website (built in Web Design 1) and other marketing material. Using Illustrator, create the logo using one or two Pantone custom colours as well as black. The logo must be 100% vector based (no pixel imagery). 2. Create the book within one Illustrator document, have at least ve art-boards acting as pages for your “Branding Book”. Make sure they are all the same size and are stacked vertically. 3. Designing the “book”. Design a professional-looking layout for your “book” with a title page as well as a consistent header and footer. There should be consistency in use of colour, typography, layout, and design elements from page to page. Page size should not be larger than can t on your screen. 4. Include a page in the brand book that shows the logo, showing various sizes, both together and with separate icon and word-mark. Also show what a designer can’t do to the logo (squish, change colour, etc). 5. Logo Layout Control. Describe the uses of the logo in terms of placement / positioning, watermarks and screen amount, icon only usage, etc. 6. Colour Information. Create large colour swatches that show the Pantone colour and number, along with CMYK, RGB and Web Safe/HEX equivalents for the logo. You should also show any other colours, in addition to the logo, that will be used in the colour scheme of the website. Label all appropriately. 7. Typography Information. State the typography specs used to create the word-mark portion of the logo. Explain the font usage for the website as well by displaying font and style information for Headings, Subheadings and body copy. Show examples of the type being used. fi fi 1 of 2 fi fi BRENT HUDSON Digital Illustration & Imaging 1 BRENT HUDSON Digital Illustration & Imaging 1 Project 01- Branding Continued Marking The nal submission of this project is worth 25% of your course grade.
