INTRODUCTION
In todays busy world, technology is one of the things that has changed many aspects of life and
its making indivisible from the network because of
the development of internet. With Dental
Management Information System w/Online Appointment System and Billing System through SMS, the
process gets much better, easier and more efficient in ost people in this world than traditional way.
Thousands of business sectors and organizations like Department of health have already discovered by
using technological progression in this world. Dental Management Information System w/Online
Appointment System and Billing System through SMS allows the system to manipulate or to manage
database online, quick pull data, and create strong and whole reports right from the dental records with
appointment system with most practical and easy way to find patient’s information, instead of having a
manageable separate data files, folders and spreadsheet. They simply manipulate or navigate it to the
system like just the same with other Website. The records of the patient will be secure and safely online.
Most of the business sectors nowadays, are using network services and also offering Web online
services in order to provide better services with fast and better way for both their staff and themselves,
including the way of how those people make booking in their doctors or dentist. This system is all about
to implement a lanbase and web base system which the transactions can be done in lan base application.
The dental profession of all the doctors and dentist has an obligation and responsibility for patient
care. A properly maintained patient record by the Dentist Secretary is a very important aspect of this
patient care. In general, a “record or data” can be defined as information generated as the official records
or transactions and one that is documented to acts as a source of reference and a tool by which an
organization is governed. The dental record is the official office document that records all diagnostic
information, treatment performed and patient-related communications that occur in the dental office,
including on how they request an apointment to their dentist even in their doctor..

SCOPE AND LIMITATION OF THE STUDY
The scope of this project will focus on the patients and doctor who will use the system, to make
the appointment via online service and for the easiest way to save patient’s personal information, this
project will be implement for a Dental clinic. The prototype can be used by the dentist secretary to
manage the appointment of those patients who request and for those who would like to do the
appointment for their dentist via online system anytime and anywhere.
The proposed system will save the time and effort of patients from waiting just to make an
appointment as well as reduce the work of system administrator to access to information for report and
easier to manage the appointment and also saving personal information of the patients. The system
administrator needs to maintain the records of patients. Patients should be able to know the availability of
a particular date. They should be able to reserve the available date and time according to their needs
advance. In this project the dentist secretary will play as the role of administrator or maybe the IT
personnel’s. The dentist can update and add the patients’ information, appointment schedule and record of
patients’ booking online easily.
The Limitation of the Dental Management Information w/Online Appointment and Billing
System with SMS Notification. The system can’t print the oral health condition record, the system can’t
receive the text message from the patient. And the online payment or PayPal also has limitation of the
system.
Page | 4
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
The system helps to save the time and effort of the users in safe and convenience ways. It enables
patient to book and check the appointment schedule and having their bills in easy way. The system also
helps the administrator to maintain the database online easily. It enables the administrators to check the
patient’s request, manage the appointment schedule, and manage the patient’s information. The designed
for the proposed system can be obtained easy way to access the inquire information about the dentist
appointment.
The patient’s record maintains all the diagnostic information with regards to patients and contains
valuable information that can be beneficial to the dentist as well as legal authorities during forensic
human identification.
For the patient – Patients can save the time and effort to book an appointment or check the
availability schedule of their doctor.
For the Dentist – They can maintain the database easily, it can be obtained easy way to access
the patient’s information and also to manage an appointment.
For Dra. Lumibao Dental Clinic- They reduce employee theft and to save the valuable time
of the customer.

CHAPTER 2: RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES
Text-to-Speech Dental Record System
Famed physicist Stephen Hawking is one of many individuals who communicate with help from
speech synthesis. Speech synthesis can be produced through phonetic transcriptions or, more commonly,
by converting normal language text into speech, referred to as text-to-speech (TTS).
A recently published standard from ANSI organizational member and accredited standards
developer the Acoustical Society of America (ASA) specifies an experimental method for evaluating the
intelligibility of synthetic speech in English generated by TTS systems. ANSI/ASA S3.502013, Evaluation of the Intelligibility of Text to Speech Synthesis Systems, is intended for use by
developers of applications incorporating TTS technology such as e-mail and SMS readers, talking kiosks,
e-learning systems, navigation systems, automated messaging services, screen readers for people who are
blind, and assistive devices for people who have difficulty speaking. This new American National
Standard (ANS) provides a measure of human listeners’ recovery of words that correspond to the
intended phonemic content of speech created by the system and specifies methods for designing,
controlling, and reporting the test conditions, among other specifications.
ASA is a membership society dedicated to increasing and diffusing the knowledge of acoustics
and its practical applications, as well as fostering studies of noise, its measurement, its effects, and ways
of reducing noise to improve the human environment. ASA serves acoustics professionals throughout the
U.S. and abroad in a variety of fields related to sound including physics, engineering, robotics,
oceanography, architecture, music, noise control, and many others. Electronic health records (EHR) rely
upon the transfer of information between hospitals and medical offices, as well as between oral surgeons,
orthodontists, and dental practices. Harmonized healthcare informatics standards offer consistency and
quality of data, while enhancing the coordination of patient care and eliminating gaps in function and
content of electronic systems.( ANSI/ASA , 2013)

Information Systems in Dentistry
Computerization in dentistry began similarly as in other human activities–recording large
amounts of data on digital media, and by replacing manual data processing to machine one. But
specifics of the dental profession have led to the specifics of the application of information technology
(IT), and continue to require special development of dental oriented and applied IT. Harmonization of
dental software with global standards will enable doctors and dentists to with a few mouse clicks via the
internet reach the general medical information about their patients from the central national health
database. Standardization will also allow access to general medical and dental history data on citizens of
foreign countries who seek help of doctors or dentists during their vacation. Such a method of using IT
will provide a higher level of health services and better health care. Also, the identification procedures in
mass disasters availability of data can contribute to accelerate the identification of victims.Dental
information systems lately are based on Web applications to facilitate data exchange. Electronic patient
record contains basic information and entering of this data is automatically created the protocol of
patients that can be printed.Besides these general data Electronic patient record also contains history
data related to allergies and other diseases which existence can significantly affect the treatment, data
on current diagnosis, location of a pathological process in the tooth refers to the following location
(mesial, distal, vestibular, oral, occlusal), teething, therapy of the tooth , type of material used with
location on the tooth. The system may defined also the surgical procedures that were performed on the
teeth such as tooth extraction or tooth root resection with the ability to accurately indicate that the root
is resected. Implants, upgrades, grinding teeth, and independent crown can be defined for each tooth
and its rightful place if a tooth is missing. Specially designed graphical representation of teeth enables to
enter data by first clicking on the tooth or place where it is and also on that occasion to open a menu
with options. Control of data entry prevents entry of illogical data ( Fedja Masic, 2012)

TEST PROCEDURE
Black-box testing is a method of software testing that examines the functionality of an
application without peering into its internal structures or workings. This method of test can be applied to
virtually every level of software testing: unit, integration, system and acceptance. It typically comprises
most if not all higher level testing, but can also dominate unit testing as well.
White-box testing is a method of testing software that tests internal structures or workings of an
application, as opposed to its functionality (i.e. black-box testing). In white-box testing an internal
perspective of the system, as well as programming skills, are used to design test cases. The tester chooses
inputs to exercise paths through the code and determine the appropriate outputs. This is analogous to
testing nodes in a circuit, e.g. in-circuit testing (ICT).
White-box testing can be applied at the unit, integration and system levels of the software
testing process. Although traditional testers tended to think of white-box testing as being done at the unit
level, it is used for integration and system testing more frequently today. It can test paths within a unit,
paths between units during integration, and between subsystems during a system–level test. Though this
method of test design can uncover many errors or problems, it has the potential to miss unimplemented
parts of the specification or missing requirements.
