I would like to thank God for granting me the strength and providing wisdom and
guidance throughout the period of writing this dissertation. Secondly, I would like to
thank myself for all the hard work and time that I have invested in going about putting
together this piece of work.
I hereby acknowledge my parents (Mr and Mrs Mhlongo) and grandmother (Miss
T.M. Mnyandu) and my whole family for their moral and financial support.
A special thanks to my supervisors: Mr L Matiso and Dr Okelo from the Geography
section for their patience, continued support and guidance throughout the project
from the phase of formulating a research topic, drafting of a proposal and the process
of data collection. I also thank them for making time in their busy schedule to look at
my imperfect work and providing constructive feedback to assist me in doing my
research.
