Even though COVID in 2020 caused a major downfall in gasoline usage, CO2 has rebounded to its highest level in history. “Chevron Phillips will pay nearly $120 million to clean up 3 chemical plants after allegations it violated Clean Air Act” - (CNN - March 9, 2022) - The Justice Department secured a settlement with Chevron Phillips to upgrade three of its Texas petrochemical plants because of allegations that it violated the clean air acts and state laws. “Why record-high gas prices won't be solved by drilling more oil in the US” - (CNN March, 10 2022) - Both political parties believe they can solve the high gasoline prices by drilling in the U.S. but this is not realistic as gasoline is a hot commodity globally.
