Included are equipment positioning and telematics based technologies that provide remote equipment monitoring capabilities for asset management, equipment health, preventative maintenance and equipment productivity and utilization management. The product integrates a GPS receiver with a 3G cellular communication system and when paired with PL E601 hardware will relay hours, location and other asset data to an information storage database to be viewed and analyzed through Cat equipment management software. The portfolio of Cat® equipment management solutions is comprised of innovative and reliable hardware and software products such as the Cat PL641 hardware device. The PL641 acts as a liaison between equipment and the office, supporting off-board communication of equipment information. Combined with the Cat PLE601 electronic control module and Cat equipment management software applications, the PL641 helps provide worksite owners, managers and equipment rental companies with visibility to detailed operational information associated to their assets. The PL641 radio will pass through data collected by the PLE601 electronic control module including asset service meter hour, location, health and productivity data where available. The PL641 is designed to be extremely rugged and virtually maintenance free to allow for installation in locations on the equipment that are exposed to harsh work environments. The devices support configuration, diagnosis and firmware updates though both a physical and over the air connection providing increased flexibility and efficiency in managing operations. Enhanced Visibility Cat equipment management software applications provide visibility to the asset data collected by the PLE601 module and relayed by the PL641 radio: Equipment state information including whether the engine is on and if the equipment is within its planned work area to help monitor work status and performance. Fuel information such as current fuel level and amount burned by shift or during equipment life to help manage fuel consumption costs. Event and diagnostic codes enable proactive monitoring of equipment health and help prevent failures.
