Creative activity: Gratitude jar
This is a very interesting and creative activity. You need one jar, some decoration for the
jar, paper and Kid-Safe Scissors.
Take one jar and use your wide creativity to decorate it, paint it, use stickers, fun photos
from old magazines… Next, cut the pieces of paper into strips or squares, large enough to
write on. Keep this pieces of paper next to the jar. Then you begin practicing
Thankfulness. Every day write at least one thing that you are thankful for on the prepared
pieces of paper, you can encourage the embers of the family to do the same thing. Once
the jar is full, empty your Gratitude jar and share the notes with your family members.
If you don’t know how to write, ask your parents for help 
Share your beautiful jars here in our group.
THE COMPASSIONATE YOUNG BOY
Once upon a time, in a small village in Kenya, there lived a young boy with his step family. Due
to the scarcity of water in the village, the young boy awoke early every morning, carried his pot
and headed for the stream with the aim of fetching water for himself and his step family. Sadly
for him, he alone had this task as a routine every morning and evening to fetch water from
distant stream while his step siblings were given other lenient tasks or even none. Yet, the young
boy bore no grudge against his step family, loved them and carried out his task, diligently.
On his way back from the stream, he met an old man resting under a tree who begged for water
to quench his thirst and he gave the old man. He met an elderly woman who begged for water
and he gave the woman. This happens almost every time as he comes back from the stream;
meeting people who beg for thirst, yet he gave them despite his step mother’s torture on him for
fetching half-filled pots that wouldn’t even be enough for the family.
One day, he couldn’t bear the torture from his step mum, so he swore never to give anyone
water, but on his way back, he met a strange looking man who begged him for water. The
strange man lay by the road side with an injury. The young boy remembered his vow – never to
give anyone water – but contemplated for a moment and then gave the strange man some water.
When he got home, his step mum noticed the half-filled pots, and again pounced on him – this
time with more cruelty. As she was beating this young boy, there was a knock on the door. It was
the wounded strange man – a mail deliverer. Apparently, he came from the town with a letter for
the young boy. A letter containing a scholarship with additional cash gift for the young boy and
would have died on the way if not for the boy’s help.
They say there is love in sharing…they say where there is love there is life. Your everyday good
deeds are never in vain for they shall return to you even when you’re not expecting it.
Today’s activity
Write at least five things that you love about yourself and share them in the group. Then think
about something that you want to improve about yourself, ex. to improve a skill, or learn
something new. You can share this in the group or just keep it for yourself.

P EBC Kids – Projects
Dear parents,
Thank you for participating in the making of the video of the song We are the World by Michael
Jackson.
What should you do?
Please make a video of your child singing only the refrain, the part of the song sang by Mila in
the video shared in EBC Kids. Your video should be similar to that, just make sure that the
phone camera is horizontal and that music in the background isn’t too loud... It would be good if
we can have videos as soon as possible, l maybe Friday 5th of May. Then send videos via
WeTransfer on this email jelenafassbender@gmail.com
I am sharing the video of Mila singing and the background music.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
This is the Karaoke of the song (No Vocals) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbcwrCjqC4M

Activity
My dear friends and early birds, let’s play one very interesting game together. It is called
“Pass the story”. This is how this game is played. One kid starts the game with one or
more sentences, then every early bird needs to add sentence by sentence, till we complete
our story. At the end we have our very special EBC story. I encourage you to use these
words in our story (if you want):
Love, Kind, Beautiful, Smart, Create, Life, Freedom, Sunny, Silly, ball, river, Moon,
Planets, Sweets, Ice cream, mountain, unique, special, sunshine, strawberries, happy,
bunny, rainbow, forest, fairies, enchanted, cupcakes, unicorns, elves, birthday, magic, ….
Write Your Story with some of These Words
My dear early birds, let’s get creative today and write our own story. Your story can be
short, long, silly, funny, an adventure.
I encourage you to use some of these words in your story (if you want):
Love, Kind, Beautiful, Smart, Create, Life, Freedom, Helpful, Sunny, Silly, ball, river,
Sun, Moon, Planets, Sweets, cat, giant, heart, sweet, white, Ice cream, mountain, unique,
special, sunshine, strawberries, happy, bunny, rainbow, forest, fairy, enchanted, vanilla,
cupcakes, unicorns, elves, birthday, magic, Thoughtful, curious, Energetic, Powerful,
flower, colorful ….
Make a beautiful drawing for your story. If you don’t know how to write ask your parents
to help you.
Share the stories and the drawings here with us.
We can create our own EBC story book, with our unique stories and drawings. That will
be fantastic!
