CASE ANALYSIS EXAMPLE: Problem: Poverty in the Philippines continues to grow. Filipinos are having a hard time surviving in such difficult conditions, and more and more are falling into extreme poverty. According to the Asian Development Bank, the major causes of poverty include low economic growth, a weak agricultural sector, increased population rates, and a high volume of inequality. Solution: To begin with, President Duterte signed Republic Act 11291 into law, dubbed the "Magna Carta of the Poor," which mandates the government to "adopt an area-based, sectoral, and focused intervention to poverty alleviation where every poor Filipino must be empowered to meet the minimum attainable standard of living" (RA 11291, Section 2). In addition, The increase of jobs outside the agriculture sector, government transfers, and the recruitment of qualified Filipinos under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program are some of the reasons that have contributed to the reduction in poverty. So, we need to support and strengthen this program to ensure the quality of jobs and to lessen poverty. Another pertinent point is, Lack of access to education in disadvantaged communities is one issue that contributes to systemic poverty. Education provides people with basic skills and increases work prospects, which can help the Philippines battle poverty.
