I. Introduction Let us first understand what a literary text and a literary passage mean. A literary text is a piece of writing, such as a book or poem that has the purpose of telling a story or entertaining, as in a fictional novel. Its primary function as a text is usually aesthetic, but it may also contain political messages or beliefs. While, literary passage is an excerpt from a piece of literature, or the entire piece. This two are simply both literary works but have different roles. We all know that the generations now are more focused in technology and internet for they think that literary works are boring now, do you agree? Well of course there are some that are very fond but they’re countable not like those who are on the other side. It is inevitably true nowadays that technology is more powerful now than literary. Using twelve (12) literary works I will illustrate interdisciplinary connections, differences and similarities of themes, styles, literary devices used across time and place, language and literature, and the like from the passage “Every trip is a quest (Except when it is not)”. II. First Main Idea Let us have four (4) examples of movies/series. The first one we will have will be: 1. Lost in space – it is a Netflix series surrounding a family who are a space colonists. Due to unforeseeable circumstances have crash-landed on an unknown planet. Now, they must fight for survival and escape, despite the dangers surrounding them. 2. Stanger things – it is a Netflix series surrounding a group of friends witnessing a supernatural force and secret government exploits. As they search for answers, the children unravel a series of extraordinary mysteries. 3. The space between us – is a movie of a boy born on mars. And would like to visit earth to look for his father with the help of a clever girl. 4. Dr. Strange – a movie revolving around a famous neurosurgeon, loses the ability to use his hands. Discovers a mysterious Ancient One to heal himself however becomes a great sorcerer under her tutelage. The movies mentioned above have the academic discipline of Natural and Applied sciences, Biology and Humanities wherein the underlying concept of each movies are greatly related to this disciplines because each of them tackles the life of humans and life and science. The movies have the differences of how they approach the scenes and uses different ways wherein the other ones are using supernatural phenomenon and the other mostly science and life and for the similarities, they depict adventure, struggles, consequences, lessons and self love and familial love. How are this movies related to the convention I have chosen and mentioned above? Well, all the movies are about quests with struggles which gives them the chance of being somewhat related to the passage and will be considered as “a trip being a quest” because of the facts that they have experienced hardships in obtaining justice and freedom, and have improve their lives to more advance one and interesting one. III. Second main idea Let us have four (4) literary pieces which gives off the same vibe as the passage given above: 1. El Filibusterismo – is a sequel from the first novel which is the “Noli Me Tangere”. 2. Noli Me Tangere – is a novel written during the colonization of the Philippines by the Spanish empire, to describe perceived inequities of the Spanish Catholic friars and the ruling government. 3. Life of Pi – the story surrounds an Indian Tamil boy from Pondicherry who explores issues of spirituality and metaphysics from an early age. This novel was also depicted in a movie. 4. To kill a mocking bird – the story revolves around an attorney who is defending a black man in a town full of racist people from an accuse of raping a white woman. The literary works mentioned have interdisciplinary connections to each other in terms of their content which is having or obtaining justice and to know what is right and learn everything that is to be learned. Differences and similarities are not that very far if we are going to be literal have different concepts for sure and for their similarities they are all novels. Almost all literary devices were used like simile, metaphor, imagery, symbolism and etc. IV. Third main idea And finally let us have four (4) amazing music that gives us the feels and for me has some similarities to the passage: 1. Story of my life (One Direction) – this song is about the times of childhood wherein it reminisce those times. 2. Position (Arianna Grande) – this song depicts a political person wherein this person is a flexible one and is able to be in different kinds of scenarios. 3. Snowman (Sia) – if we we convert the message into describing a real thing then the message will depict that someone is willing to do anything for the one that she/he loves no matter the cost or anything that will hinder. 4. We are the world (Michael Jackson) – this song is an encouragement at the same time being proud, not all things or happenings are easy to deal with and more importantly tragedies or over the limit problems are not easily passed on. It takes great determination and endurance to be able to carry on. The music is one of the most strong things existing they can either pull you up even in the clouds or drag you down to the most bottom part of your life. Of course literary devices like simile, metaphor, imagery were used and others that are not mentioned. And this songs for me have a relation to the passage “Every trip is a quest (except when its not) V. Conclusion Every trip is a quest (except when its not) passage is a passage that depicts whether a certain trip will be a quest or just a trip, how to distinguish it is a trip with a quest is when it is a trip with struggles and trials en route and when it is not when it is just a simple trip like for example just going out from the house and coming back without any out of the box happenings. The different literary works mentioned above depicts adventure and goals and attainment which can never be obtained by simple means. Different literary forms are used and all are depicting the one side of the passage which is “Every trip is a quest” having to conclude that all the examples mentioned are all a trip having a quest.
