VARDHAMAN COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING, HYDERABAD An autonomous institute affiliated to JNTUH 2021-22 Title of the project: Solution / Proposed Methodology: Implementation Details: FALL DETECTION SYSTEM Since falls are a major public health problem among older people, the number of systems aimed at detecting them has increased dramatically over recent years. A fall detection system can be defined as an assistive device whose main objective is to alert when a fall event has occurred. In this project, we will build an IoT based fall detection project using an MPU6050 sensor module features a gyroscope and an accelerometer. and ESP8266 with an email or message alert feature. Our fall detection project will be linked with the IFTTT web service to generate an email alert to notify users whenever a fall is detected. The user will get an update whenever a fall will be detected, specifying the exact date and time of the detection. Problem Identification: According to the World Health Organization approximately 2835% of people aged 65 and over fall each year increasing to 3242% for those over 70 years of age. In fact, falls exponentially increase with age-related biological changes, which is leading to a high incidence of falls and fall related injuries in the ageing societies. Since falls are a major public health problem among older people, the number of systems aimed at detecting them has increased dramatically over recent years. Design of the project: Abstract: The fall detection system is very useful for elderly people. It can notify the concerned person or family member whenever it detects any fall and can reduce the risk of delayed medical attention. This has led to the development of automated fall detection systems. Nowadays, we can find fall detectors in smartwatches, fitness trackers, and other types of wearables. We are going to build a fall detection device using NodeMCU and MPU6050 sensor module. If the fall is detected, the device will send an SMS to the concerned person. NodeMCU is used here as a microcontroller and Wi-Fi module to connect with IFTTT to send SMS. By Under the Guidance of: Mrs. Sujatha Gupta
