CHANGE REQUEST FOR A CURRENT COURSE
ONLY FOR SIMPLE CHANGES TO EXISTING COURSES
Please list the course and title: _ED 205 TEACHING DIVERSE LEARNERS_
Does the course keep all existing BLUEprint categories:
Yes _x___ No ______
Please drop this BLUEprint category: _____________________
(Additions need to go through the regular process for these.)
Change in the level of a course number (i.e. 200-level to 100-level)
Change course from __205___ to __305_____
Is there a change in the number of hours? If so, how? _no_________________________
Rationale: The Education department made ED 203 Multicultural Issues and Social Justice in
Education a prerequisite for ED 205 Teaching Diverse Learners, therefore we believe this course
should be a 300-level course. Some of the concepts covered in ED 205 Teaching Diverse
Learners are a continuation and deeper dive of what is introduced in ED 203.

Other changes impacted by this, such as listing for the major requirements, major itself, etc.
As previously mentioned, this course now requires a prerequisite (ED 203). To alleviate any scheduling
difficulties that may arise from this change, we are now offering ED 205 Teaching Diverse Learners in
both Fall and Spring semesters. This will allow more flexibility in students’ schedules. I would also add
that this course is not generally taken by non-education majors, so we are not changing something that
functioned as a gen-ed course.
