Symbol: + (Plus sign) This symbol has several meanings and has drastically evolved in many ways through history. One meaning of this symbol is used for addition. For example, it's used in math equations such as 9+3=12. Another meaning of the plus symbol can be used in verbal context to represent the word “and/ in addition to” for example Cade escorted her to town and purchased everything on the list + a few more items. It can also mean grading systems the plus sign indicates a grade one level higher like B+. Most recently, this symbol has taken on an entirely new meaning of "premium access/content” when used in reference to Consoles or streaming services like PlayStation Plus which gives you not only exclusive game deals on the console but also cloud storage and online multiplayer. It is used on not only video game media but in streaming platforms like Hulu Plus to notify the consumer that there are extra features on these platforms which are beneficial than just purchasing the normal product. And that is the main reason I believe that the plus symbols are one of many to change and evolved throughout generations since it originally started as a symbol used only for mathematics or grading but has gradually changed to be used in streaming and gaming media.
