Instruction:
Divide into groups for this activity. Follow the steps below to create your composition.
1. In your groups look at the pictures above and discuss what social issue does it refer to?
2. Choose one of the issues for your composition.
3. Create a short simple story using the picture as inspiration. Use dance movements to tell the story. Think
of using music, props and costumes to strengthen the message you want to communicate to the audience.
4. Ensure that your dance has a clear beginning, middle and end.
5. Your dance must include at least 4 loco-motor and 4 non-loco-motor movements.
6. Explore space as an element of dance including shape, dimension, direction, level and pathways.
7. Explore time as an element of dance including phrasing, accent and tempo.
8. Always maintain a good posture and body alignment throughout the dance performance.
9. Practice and rehearse your dance and present to the class as a polished performance.
