Typestyle Conventions
The following conventions are observed throughout this guide:
• Bold text is used to designate file and folder names, dialog titles, names of buttons,
icons, and menus, and terms that are objects of a user selection.
• Italic text is used for word emphasis, defined terms, and manual titles.
• Monospace text (Courier) is used to show literal text as you would enter it or as it
would appear onscreen.
Alert Statements
The alerting statements are Notes, Cautions, and Warnings. These statements are formatted
in the following style:

Note: Information that is incidental to the main text flow or to an important point or tip
provided in addition to the previous statement or instruction.

Caution: Advises of machine or data error that could occur should the user fail to take

Overview
Audience
The OFM administrator or the end user can perform the tasks described in this section.
Prerequisites
Perform the following tasks before you install OFM:
• Obtain an OFM product license from your Schlumberger account manager.
• Ensure that you have administrative privileges on the computer where you are installing
OFM.
• Ensure that the “System Requirements” on page 2-4 are met.

Installing OFM
The installation makes sure that all files needed to run OFM are installed on your computer.
The installation setup performs the following steps:
• Copies all required files to the user's workstation
• Registers all required files
• If you wish, creates shortcuts for all installed modules
 To Install OFM

Insert the OFM Installation CD in your computer, or navigate to the network drive that
contains the OFM installation files.

Start the installation:
a. Double-click the setup.exe file to begin the installation.

Caution: Do not double-click OFM 2014.msi.
The Welcome panel of the installation wizard opens.
b. Click Next.
The license agreement opens.

Select I agree to the license terms and conditions if you agree to the terms, and then
click Next.
An options list of setup types opens.

Select the appropriate setup option:
a. Select the type of installation you wish to have, from the choices provided:
Types
Description
Complete
Installs all program features
Use this option for standalone and server installations
of OFM.
Workstation
Installs the files required to run OFM from a
workstation accessing OFM on a server

Note: If your organization uses FlexeraTM FlexNet Publisher®(or later) License Manager
to manage Flex licenses, then the Schlumberger License Manager software is
not required.
b. Click Next.
The location for installing OFM displays.

If you need to change the destination folder, click Browse and select a new folder.
Otherwise, click Next to accept the default location.

Select the shortcuts you would like to add and then click Next.

Click Install to begin the installation.
The status of the installation is shown.

Click Close to finish the installation.
If you chose to install the Schlumberger License Manager in Step 4, see “Installing
Schlumberger Licensing Manager” on page 3-5 for additional installation instructions.
Otherwise, see “Activating the OFM License” on page 4-1 to activate your OFM license.

Installing Schlumberger Licensing Manager
The Schlumberger License Manager is optional software that you can use instead of
FlexeraTM FlexNet Publisher® to activate an OFM license.

Note: If your organization uses the FlexNet 11.0 (or later) to manage Flex licenses, then
the Schlumberger License Manager software is not required.
 To Install the Schlumberger Licensing Manager

If you selected the Install Schlumberger License Manager option when you installed
OFM, the Schlumberger Licensing installation starts automatically after the OFM
installation is complete.
If you want to manually start the Schlumberger License Manager installation: On the
OFM installation CD or the network drive where the OFM installation files are
available, double-click SchlumbergerLicensingTool_2014.1.exe.
The Welcome panel of the installation wizard opens.

Click Next.
The location for installing the Schlumberger License Manager is shown.

If you need to change the destination folder, click Change. Otherwise, click Next to
accept the default location.
A confirmation message is shown.

FlexNet Overview
FlexNet Overview
FlexeraTM FlexNet Publisher® is the system Schlumberger uses to manage software licensing.
If your organization uses a FlexNet license server to manage software licenses, contact your
FlexNet administrator for assistance with adding the OFM license to the established license
server.
For organizations that do not have a FlexNet license server, Schlumberger provides the
Schlumberger License Manager software to manage Schlumberger-specific licenses. After
you install the Schlumberger License Manager, you can use it to activate your OFM product
license.
The following sections discuss the two supported licensing methods: Standalone and server
based.

Activating a Standalone License
Activating a Standalone License
A standalone license gives an individual user access to OFM.
 To Activate a Standalone License Using the Schlumberger License Manager

Save the license file you received from your Schlumberger account manager to a
directory on your local machine (for example, C:\Flex).

Select Start > Programs > Schlumberger > Schlumberger Licensing > Schlumberger
Licensing on your Windows menu.
The Schlumberger licensing window opens.

In the Local license server (upper) section, click Add license file.

Select the license file and then click Open.

Click Start.
A confirmation message confirms that you want to apply the license immediately.

On the confirmation message, click OK.

On the Schlumberger licensing window, click Ok to start using the standalone license.

Activating a Server License
With the server method of licensing, multiple users can access (point to) a single license
server (remote host).
 To Add a Server License Using the Schlumberger License Manager
On the license server machine, perform the following steps:

Save the license file to any directory.

Select Start > Programs > Schlumberger > Schlumberger Licensing > Schlumberger
Licensing on your Windows menu.
The Schlumberger licensing window opens.

In the Local license server (upper) section, click Stop (if possible).
The license server stops.

Click Add License File.

Select the license file and then click Open.

Click Start.
A confirmation message confirms that you want to apply the license immediately.

On the confirmation message, click OK.

On the Schlumberger licensing window, click Ok.
 To Establish a Connection from the Local Machine to the Remote Service
On the local machine, perform the following steps:

Select Start > Programs > Schlumberger > Schlumberger Licensing > Schlumberger
Licensing on your Windows menu.
The Schlumberger licensing window opens.

In the All license servers (lower) section, enter your license server name and click Add
license server.
The license server name should be in the format port-number@server-name, where:
• port-number is the number of a communication port between your computer and
the security server (often between 27000 and 27009)
• server-name is the computer name of your security server
• • • • • •
Note: By default, the licensing server is installed on port 27000.

Follow these steps to uninstall OFM.
 To Remove OFM

On the Windows Control Panel select Uninstall a Program.

Right click OFM 2014.1 and select Uninstall.

In the Uninstall or Repair dialog box, select Uninstall.

To finish the uninstallation, select Close.
