Capital Speakers Club of Washington, D.C., Inc. 2022 Hester B. Provensen and Jean C. Miller Scholarship Award Call for Applications The Hester B. Provensen and Jean C. Miller Scholarship is awarded annually to an eligible woman student majoring in Communications, Speech, or the equivalent in a 4-year institution of higher learning in the greater Washington D.C. area. Applicants must be a freshman, sophomore, or junior by the application deadline of March 15, 2022 who has not previously received the scholarship award. This is a merit-based scholarship requiring applicants to provide evidence of academic excellence and a commitment to pursue a career in the fields of Communications, Speech, or the equivalent. The recipient must attend the Capital Speakers Club June Joint Luncheon, as our guest, to be held at Congressional Country Club, on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, to receive the award. Further, the recipient will be expected to deliver a three-minute acceptance speech to the Club membership at that time. The amount of this year's award will be $7,500. Funds will be sent directly from the Capital Speakers Club Foundation to the recipient's university. To apply, the applicant must submit the following required documents: completed application official transcript resume one-page (limit of 600 words) biographical essay stating why you wish to be the recipient of the scholarship recommendation letter from a faculty member in support of your application. You may include a short one minute video introducing yourself. This is optional.
