How are physical and chemical changes distinguished?
Question 1 :Is evaporation of water a physical change or a chemical change? Explain your answer.
Ans : The evaporation of Water is a PHYSICAL CHANGE. It is a physical change because even
though the water went from A solid to a gas It is still water.
Question 2 :List three clues that indicate that a chemical change has taken place.
Ans : Change in color, Formation of bubbles, and odor change
Question 3 :Give an example of a chemical change that you encounter every day.
Ans : Digestion
Question 4 :Explain how a burning candle demonstrates both physical and chemical changes.
Ans : It is both a physical and chemical change because the Candle is changing shape which is
physical and then it causes a change in molecular level which is a chemical.
Question 5 :Of the events you observed, compare the substances that underwent chemical change.
What were the similarities and differences in these changes?
Ans : Actuallly none of mine were chemical changes but i will name one. Lighting up a firework and
burning wood. They are similar becuae it envolves light and chemicals and they are differant
because one could be used for heat while the other is for satisfaction
Question 6 :Of the events you observed, compare the substances that underwent physical change.
What were the similarities and differences in these changes?
Ans : One of them were water turned into ice and the other was Boiling water. One similarity is that
they were both originally water. A differance is that one is getting hotter while the other is cold.
